  1. I'm using an ATI 4870HD. Couple of points. 1. Always use OpenGL, even with ATI cards - I have done on for years and performance is vastly superior to DirectX (IL2 uses a DirectX wrapper around the OGL). 2. Use IL2 Setup to set for the latest ATI Radeon card. 3. Open and edit conf.ini after step 2 to set screen area and then paste in the OpenGL settings from conf.ini pasted below. Note: there is a line 'videoSetupId=x' which I believe should not be changed in you conf.ini. The above is posted for posterity, as a source for future queries! Here's my conf.ini: [Render_OpenGL] TexQual=3 TexMipFilter=2 TexCompress=0 TexFlags.UseDither=1 TexFlags.UseAlpha=0 TexFlags.UseIndex=0 TexFlags.PolygonStipple=1 TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0 TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=1 TexFlags.UseVertexArrays=1 TexFlags.DisableAPIExtensions=0 TexFlags.ARBMultitextureExt=1 TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=1 TexFlags.SecondaryColorExt=1 TexFlags.VertexArrayExt=1 TexFlags.ClipHintExt=0 TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0 TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=1 TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1 TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=0 TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=1 TexFlags.DepthClampNV=0 TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=1 TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=0 HardwareShaders=0 Shadows=2 Specular=2 SpecularLight=2 DiffuseLight=2 DynamicalLights=1 MeshDetail=2 VisibilityDistance=3 Sky=2 Forest=2 LandShading=3 LandDetails=2 LandGeom=2 TexLarge=1 TexLandQual=3 TexLandLarge=1 VideoSetupId=8 Water=1 Effects=1 ForceShaders1x=0 PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.0625 PolygonOffsetUnits=-1.0 My CCC:
  2. Thanks JP, a great erad and S! toDuff.
  3. I'm pretty sure the stats are still reasonably accurate Pooka, since we have been using SMF as the forum software at least. And I have a vague recollection that it imported the stats from the previous software too. But no-one can hold a candle to Grey Knights dedication to the forums: Total Time Spent Online:

    cockpit roll ??!

Like I sed to Gec, I want to see a Fraps track of this!! I suggested it could be a TiR axis being snaggged, but this is in the un-modded version..
  6. Hi Ross. After clicking Click here to submit a File you should be presented with 10 file selection boxes. Please note, at the very top of that section there is a drop down alongside 'File is online?' [attach=#] This defaults to 'No' please change this to 'Yes' if you wish to have the file visible and downloadable. There is an alternate method, using ftp, where you can upload hundreds or thousands of files, and then via the web control panel, import them into a single section With both methods you will, I am afraid, need to edit the description for each file after upload (you should see a little 'Edit File' link under each file in the browser. I'll put together a guide on uploading via ftp.
  7. I reckon you should try two strips of Sellotape to cure that mate, one on each shoulder I find does the job of keeping the halter top straps nicely in place, and serves as a quick waxing too.

    SAITEK X52

Oh... Latest Saitek software does not support dat files, now got a pro extension. http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?p=1213413 I know there are other Saitek X52 users in the squad, and I'm sure one will chip in imminently.

    SAITEK X52

Possibly a good starting point for you: X52 map in our Vault Here
  10. YAY!!! It's there!!! Not a lot really, it just tells the CPU and GPU how to play nicely together and optimally. Notice any change in frame rates/smoothness?
  11. Nice read Brando I remember having a tank slapper on a 550 four I once owned - I had a motocross style T bar handle bars on it too, low and wide. Frightened the crap out of me when I topped 90 on the A2 and the slap set in. Bloody worn out swinging arm bushes..
  12. I did indeed, and managed to not crash too. Got shot down once, and vulched twice too (once by AI).
  13. This is in the 'World according to Bonger thread'... And yes the smoking crater Jato story is false, Snopes again is our friend: http://www.snopes.com/autos/dream/jato.asp The other stories...I would like to think they are not true, but humorous at least
  14. JATO powered Impala: http://videos.howstuffworks.com/discovery/33070-mythbusters-rocket-powered-chevy-video.htm OK it's not really Jato, but it is 3000HP and the equivalent of it...
  15. Just found this: (so the correct device to look for is the VIA CPU to AGP Controller - I don't have a VIA board here to compare). over at http://www.tweakguides.com/Hyperions.html
  16. In the folder you extracted from the VIA zip file you downloaded you will find this folder: \viaagp\DRIVER\WinXP\ You need to open device manager (start-run and type in devmgmt.msc ) then follow directions in images:
  17. It's that time again: The Darwin Awards are finally out, the annual honour given to the persons who did the gene pool the biggest service by killing themselves in the most extraordinarily stupid way.
  18. Sadly not:
  19. Hi Mike. Re: your Dxdiag. 1. You have full hardware acceleration on your soundcard, as it is not of the Audihy or later variety you should lower the acceleration to 'standard' to save some CPU cycle time, you can do this either through the sound applet in control panel on hardware tab, or via the dxdiag tool on the sound/audio tab. 2. Looks like your Via Chipset drivers have not taken, you do not have an active AGP driver. I recall you having problems with this about 3 yrs ago
  20. HDMI is rated for less jitter, and therefore better quality. I'm using DSub on flat panel and have no issues though.....
  21. GEC has faster fingers than me
  22. First thing to do is to do a dxdiag to check your chipset and gpu drivers are loaded OK. start->run then type in dxdiag and hit enter. Let it run and complete, then click 'save all information', this will create a file called dxdiag.txt on your desktop, can you copy and paste the contents of that back here please? It maybe that your DVD drive has not been recognised due to chipset drivers being awry. For Movie playback you would have been using a third party codec, possibly from a CD that came with your system. There are free codecs available. Another thought, there are 2 DVDs in the 46 pack, one of them is a movie The CCC not working, have you downloaded and installed the .NET 2 Framework that is required by the CCC?
  23. Wahay! and Welcome Brando
