  1. Well it depends really on what your lowest fps is, and whether or not vert synch off improves it. If it doesn't then capping max @ 60 fps is worth it to not have the tearing
  2. [off-topic] What was this thread about again?[/off-topic] [off-topic]Crikey![/off-topic]
  3. Bloody hell, I've got 3 of them. Was given one a couple of months back that has barely been used, no box though..
  4. FFB comes back with next refly, no use in a co-op but in a DF.. Can't beat having a second monitor (well you can with a second pc...) a cheap second hand 15/17" screen works well for TS/Maps etc..
  5. Would rather let my own immune system deal with it the way nature intended, rather than circumvent the defences using a product designed to line the pockets of the over bloated pharmaceutical machine.. and we all survived H1N1 when we got it. None of my kids have had any vaccine, they can choose for themselves once they are 18. Sucked (to put it mildly) when one of them had suspected measles and we were chastised by the doctor and told our child may die as a result in front of the 7yr old child too. Jane spent many years working with vaccine victims, my kids got the 'killer' disease whooping cough and lived to tell the tale. Drs admitted (after the event) that the whooping cough vaccine only gives 3-4 years immunity. Granted the symptoms were appalling and gave us a sleepless week. Too often fear is used as a means of control..
  6. Lawks, must be the only dog here who can say that and mean it!
  7. Post up the bit of your conf.ini that contains the [rts_joystick] Should have a FF=1 line in there somewhere. Mine works fine with XP/Vista/7 - centres well and can 'feel' the flight envelope well. IIRC I did tone down the gun effects...may have lost that.
  8. Got my Barretta primed and ready Funny - there is a facebook group about surviving zombies in Cambridge, quite a hoot!
  9. Well... It does snow here in the UK, but not normally to the extent it has recently. Coupled with an unusually prolonged period of sub-zero temperatures this has put a strain on our infra-structure. Snow tyres and chains are not the norm here for winter, and our salt/grit reserves are insufficient for the current conditions. Trains are hampered because some use a third rail for power, rather than overhead lines, so this has added to the problems. There is concern for our wildlife too because our winters are normally 'mild'. We may also have milk and bread rationing - go figure! Thankfully booze is in plentiful supply
  10. There is a way to set them so they are right or left brake, even though IL2 has only a single non-differential brake set up. It involves programming the CH Software, which you may not have installed: http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?5862-Question-about-Pseudo-toe-brakes-IL-2-script
  11. British Military have been barred from doing that on health and safety grounds.. Probably true too knowing our government.

    Which bit 32/64

No Pete, CPU is usually the easiest to swap and is generally pretty transparent to XP.

    Which bit 32/64

It will run fine Pete. Windows 7 (if you are using it) I have found to be much more tolerant of hardware change than previous versions of Windows. I have swapped out everything except hard drive and 7 booted fine, found the new hardware and configured itself. Including a migration from nVidia to ATI gpu for my son at christmas (you can tell the kids are getting older when their main chrimbo pressie request is a hardware upgrade).

    Which bit 32/64

Truthfully the deciding factor is how much RAM you aim to use. With a 3.25GB ceiling with 32 Bit and SOW being likely to benefit from a system with 4+GB (with it being slated as a DX11 application it will require Windows 7) then I would go 64Bit. Drivers are now more mature for 64Bit and 32 Bit apps like IL2 run without complaint and no noticeable performance drop.
  15. Don't think it's a good idea to have links to torrents in public area, against Hosting Company T and Cs - Potential Copyright Infringement! This topic has been moved to Danger Dogz Private. [iurl]http://www.dangerdogz.com/forums/index.php?topic=8297.0[/iurl]
  16. Excellent, shared these with the kids too

    small project

Yep, must use NTFS You have seen this? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896768.aspx

    small project

It will work just as you say Gec, and is a great idea. I use junctions often, most recently to move the program files and documents folders off the C drive to the D drive on a netbook, it had a mere 4GB C drive You could get creative with this! Any merit in creating a junction for the conf.ini do you think?
  19. FT created IL2 Sticks (IIRC) for this situation and it will allow you to adjust the banding outside the sim. AFAIK USB ordering will not change this, and is best left as is other wise you may find CH software needs to be reinstalled.
  20. Damn.. read this too late Sweper. As no Dog stepped up to help you get the CH cheap I was going to get my Brother-in-law to do it for you, I get him to buy stuff state side for me and ship it to the UK.
  21. Useful but not neccessary, I haven't touched UAC on my own system but on the others in the house I did alter it and found no benefit aside from not getting the annoying prompt A very good tip! But don't forget to turn it back on You can do that directly on the downloaded .exe in my experience, with MSI files you can't - but that is because you don't need to as this will run in admin mode automatically.
  22. GORDON BROWN was visiting a Scottish primary school and the class was in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked Mr. Brown if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'Tragedy'. So our illustrious leader asked the class for an example of a 'Tragedy'. A little boy stood up and offered, "If ma best freen, wha’ lives on a ferm, is playin' in the field and a tractor rins ower him and kills him, that wid be a tragedy." "Incorrect", said Gordon, in his best trying-not-to-sound-too-Scottish-accent, "That would be an accident." A little girl raised her hand, "If a school bus kerryin' fifty children drove ow’r a cliff, killing a'body inside, that wid be a tragedy" 'I'm afraid not', explained Gordon, "that's what we would refer to as a great loss’’. The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Gordon searched the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?" Finally, at the back of the room, a wee lad raised his hand and, in a quiet voice, said: "If a plane kerryin' you and Mr. Darlin' wiz struck by a 'freendly fire' missile & blawn tae smithereens, that wid be a tragedy." "Fantastic!" exclaimed Gordon, "and can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?" "Weel", says the lad, "it has tae be a tragedy, because it certainly widnae be a great loss, and it probably widnae be a f*cking accident either."
