Please run:
start-run-type in 'dxdiag' and press enter.
Let it complete it's tests, then click the 'save all information' button.
This will prompt you to create a file on the desktop, called dxdiag.txt.
Save it, then open it.
Do a ctrl+a to select all text.
Then ctrl+c
Paste the result back here and I'll take a look for you.
You may find, in the interim, that clicking on the sound tab in the dxdiag tool, and lowering the Hardware Sound Acceleration level to 'Standard' is beneficial.
Another thing to check, in device manager, is for any IRQ conflicts.
To see IRQs select 'View' - 'resources by connection' - 'Interrupt Request (IRQ).
You do not want to see your graphics card and sound card sharing a common IRQ.
