LOL you should have seen the wiring in my place before I rewired it.
240v coursing through 1935 cabling, rubber insulation that had forgotten it's origin.
I replaced a light fitting, simple job. Had to cut a good 12" back and splice in new wire before I found some that didn't crumble when I touched it.
'Money Pit' was the film I thought of when I had that experience.
Chasing channels in brick walls to lay in new cable is an experience I'd rather not repeat, unless on a pay-roll!
Pulling cable through joists etc. is not the way to spend a weekend with three young kids.
Then plastering, talk about learning on the job. Removing load bearing walls and placing re-enforced concrete joists.....what a hoot! Dust permeating every nook and cranny in the house. Took days just to clean out the heat sinks on the PCs
