Congrats to Arjen on his first Gong! Despite encountering heavy enemy fighter opposition prior to RV with the RAF Mitchells he and his squadron were assigned to escort, Lt Efftee led and organised his squadron with great decisiveness and they downed many e/a before racing to catch the heavies under their charge, escorting them to a successful drop on their target. 2nd Lt. Casey Baker miraculously survived a head on collision with a Fw 190A-8. Knocked completely unconscious and trapped in the falling wreckage Baker had a million-to-one shot when remains of his aircraft hit the steep slope of a tall river bank and slid into a muddy, silty bog at the bottom. He was rescued by friendly ground troops and taken to a nearby aid station. Apart from a light concussion he suffered no further injury! Some one get that guy a lottery ticket! 2nd Lt. Zook aborted due to technical issues with his a/c but not before claiming a Bf-110. 2nd Lt. Funflaque again aborted due to technical issues with his a/c but made it safely home. Congrats to 485th for their victories. After further discussion with 9th AF HQ, Group have decided that if whilst on air patrol near the frontlines, should a squadron see little or no enemy air activity after 20-30 minutes on station squadrons are free to expand their search area and also search out and attack enemy ground targets - but only if identification of targets as enemy is absolutely unequivocal. It will be left to the squadron commanders discretion, with the forces he has available and availability of suitable targets as to how this is carried out, but group recommend leaving at least one flight high as cover in case our Luftwaffe friends decide to show up late. Next mission on the board is October 12th 1944. (To be hosted Tuesday 18th August.)

A number of changes will be incorporated in the next patch which should be released next week. --- Overhead Pilot armour The 109E-7's and 109F's had overhead pilot armour installed at the factory. Some pilots removed this, leaving the back seat and headrest armor. These were mostly the 'Experten', or Schwarm/Staffel/Gruppe Leaders who had to be able to see around and make decisions. Most Nachwuchs or Average pilots left it. We are unable currently to allow the player the option to keep or remove the armour... the code needs a re-write. We were going to leave the armour in place until we did the re-write, but its clear the majority of the players want the armour removed. So we are removing from all E-7's and all 109F's. As mentioned, in the future we will re-write the code to allow the player the choice. ---- Auto Radiators on 109F's It has become clear the 109F's were significantly down in performance over what they should be. The 109F's are the first aircraft in the game with automatic radiators and it looks like the code for this, (left over from the original developers) is not completely accurate. The radiators open too soon, before they need to, and stay open longer than they need to. This creates additional drag and affects top speed on the 109F's We have adjusted a number of elements on the radiators to reduce the early opening effects. This reduces the excess drag effects and brings up the speed to historical levels. These changes will not affect the climb rate significantly. --- 109F Propellers The 109F props, the VDM 9-11207 for the F-1/F-2 and VDM 9-12010 for the F-4 had their drag a little high, this has been lowered improving the overall Lift/Drag ratio on the props. This has also helped with the speed. --- Overheat The 109F-4's have had their overheat schedule redone... this means they will not overheat as fast, especially at low speed. This will allow the players to use full power longer in a climb.

Are the player commands to a.i. wingmen working now? I'm pretty sure I saw an announcement by TFS a few weeks back that they'd got them working. I'll get Tobruk when it supports VR but I fired up my updated copy of Blitz this morning and as far as I can tell there is no change in the way these commands work....or rather, don't work? I was a bit amazed to find they don't seem to have done anything with the game gui. If there's one big thing that must put off new players it's this!

Tell them to pay for their own bloody server and then they can turn the frickin' externals off all they frickin' like. Freeloaders.

Well, apart from GBS I only dabble in World of Tanks now. Got such a good collection of vehicles it would be madness to give it up. So easy to drop into for a couple of hours and is an easy change of scenery. Have to say that GBS tanks is very good too....

Ahh, I see. Well, I hate to break it to him, but there are many games out there....several I play in fact....GBS, Elder Scrolls Online, Hell Let Loose...and so on. I reinstalled CLOD Blitz today, haven't played it since 2018 according to Steam, I looked at Tobruk, but honestly, just cant bring myself to spend the amount they want for it at the moment, still suffering from PTSD from what CLOD turned out to be at release😨

Hey Reggie, FT has for many years been very comedic in his outbursts against “other games”. When we flew 46 and members dared to discuss other flight sims or worse still other genres, he would shout “THERE IS ONLY ONE GAME !!!” We had to have him sedated to get GBS and DCS installed on his computer. So it looks like you have joined the club mate 👍🏻😉 Ain’t that the truth Arjenski ?? 😘
