Downloading From Vault - Incorrect Archives

While researching the 'Selected Aircraft not created' message causes, I wanted to download a mission pack from the vault, to check the contents of a mission file in there.

But while I could download the file, it resulted in a .zip file my Winzip refuses to open, same with winrar.

Winzip message is: 'Cannot open the file. Is does not appear to a valid archive'.

Tried some other mission packs, here's a list of those that I can download successfully, but result into a broken archive file.

Here's a list of file that after downloading result into a correct archive.

http://dangerdogz.com/forums/files/file/71-x1-1-madjeks-pacific-missions151zip/

If you look at the first list, you can see I can't even get my hands on Dino's malta pack he uploaded just Yesterday!

Could any one please try and see whether the cause it the vault, or me and my internet connection?

(I've tried two different computers, two different browsers...)

Thanks in advance!

Good morning FT. Look my bloody internet seems to be working o.k. this morning, unlike last night.

I've just d/l'ed the Malta pack from the vault with no problems and Winrar seems to like it. No error messages. It opens to a file which seems to contain all the usual stuff. Does this help?

Arjen.

Try 7Zip, these are 7 Zip archives which are smaller than the RAR or Zip equivalents, 7 Zip is free and will open pretty much any archive including ISO, RAR, TAR etc..

First archive you linked opened fine for me ;)

Using 7-Zip fixed it Rog, thanks! :thumbsu:

(Would it be wise / smart to put some warning somewhere about that 7-zip file type on the download page? Or is it common knowledge and I am lacking in that?)

Hi Arjen.

Yes submitters should state 7-Zip (that said the extension shows and 7-Zip is very popular - even Adobe use it as the default now).

I have corrected the Barbarossa archive now with a copy from my PC.

:)

If you find any more that are corrupt let me know.

Some of them are very old and were copied across from our old host, as there is 51GB there is bound to be the odd one corrupt I suppose!
