Snacko Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Looks like I'm grandfathered in for a free NTTR Map! It's free if you bought into the A10C Beta before Feb 21, 2011. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Does this mean DCS 2.0 with EDGE will be released in November? The ED information seems slightly vague. Hope so. Quote
Snacko Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 DCS 1.5 BETA which will include EDGE is supposed to be out this month. (Sept). Read the DCS World 1.5 section, which says it will basically be DCS 2.0 without any new maps, and available in Sept 2015. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135473 Quote
slicker55 Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 I think buying the map will be a 'no brainer' for most - it's just a case of when to part with your dosh.... People can get the special price and goodies by buying it now but I take it the map will only work when DCSW 2.0 is released? Quote
Snacko Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 That's correct. It will only be available with 2.0. Quote
Kira Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 ...it's just a case of when to part with your dosh.... People can get the special price and goodies by buying it now... Seems quite the no brainer if it's just a matter of "the map will be available when it's available, but buy now and lower price + extra goodies, including the map when it's out". Also "Both of these options also include a 20% bonus savings on future purchases at full price." Is it me, or is that worded as to mean "ALL future full price purchases you make will be discounted 20% because you bought this Alpha at this time"? By the way, Youtube teaser for the Nevada Range, released today: Quote
Snacko Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 No, I think that means you'll get 20% off of 1 item, one time. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Think I'm going to wait on user reviews and one of DCS's frequent sales before buying this map. Quote
Kira Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Not I. I figure that the savings on the two campaigns alone make it worth buying early, plus the fact that it's another map, any other map, in the long overdue arena of "Someplace else to fly, please!" Additionally, I know exactly where that 20% discount is going... the F-14 the day it becomes available. Quote
slicker55 Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 Buy it now and get: 20% discount 2 x Missions 1 x Support Pack Quote
Kira Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 "Support pack...?" Where'd you see that? Quote
Snacko Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 What is the support pack? Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk. Quote
slicker55 Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 "Support pack...?" Where'd you see that? As illustrated! Quote
DD_Arthur Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Wow, check out the recommended specs for DCS 2.0; Minimum system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i3; RAM: 8 GB; Free hard disk space: 30 GB; Video: 2 GB RAM card, DirectX11 - compatible;requires internet activation.Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+; RAM: 16GB; Hard disk space: 30 GB; Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 / ATI R9 290 DirectX11 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation. Thats pretty stiff! Quote
Snacko Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 That's not too demanding is it? Is a i7 faster than an i3? Never heard of the i3 before.. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Not sure what all that means either. I tend to go by clock speed so we're talking 3.6ghz + for the processor, a GTX780 and 16gig of ram!!! I'd say thats a toughie for anyone outside of North America and Western Europe. Quote
slicker55 Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 The best CPU is always the next one up from the one you can afford! Quote
Snacko Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Arthur, where does it say 16 gigs of ram? I see it says 8 gigs.. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 That's the minimum specs Snacko. The recommended ones say 16!! Quote
Snacko Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Oh.. I see, your post has both together. Well my mb can only handle 12 gig. Guess I'll be ok for a while.. I also have an i7 @4ghz and 2 SSDs in Raid0. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk. Quote
slicker55 Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 Have to say this beta release has totally transformed DCS for me... doubled my frame rates (60+ even with higher settings) so, a huge improvement especially when you take into account I'm running three screens and a touchscreen. I have also noticed how much smoother this runs and the whole thing just 'feels' more solid. Overall, very impressed and really looking forward to the full release and, of course, the NTTR map Quote
