  1. It's funny, I look back now and think how much I took the cats for granted. They were always kinda 'there' and I can't believe it's been 5 years since they were last airborne. Excellent work tfc, looks like they are finally putting all the paperwork debacle behind them.
  2. I noticed this on the key forums. How could they possibly get it wrong?! I mean, it looks like a photo as well! I know Lee's Hope (the P-40F in background) had a few incorrect markings when it arrived, but I can't remember it extending to under side? For clarification... It should be: =*= US ARMY not: ARMY US =*=
  3. Never been a massive fan of the Dora, always preferred the look of the snub nosed BMW jobbies. However, this does look pretty darn good fo' sho'!
  4. That reminds me, I've not booked mine yet! 70 days to go...
  5. AR213 looks sweeeeeeet! Also, I think we should all protest at Legends that Princess Liz stays here. I suggest we chain Sweper to her, at least we'll know where he is!
  6. Plenty of Jet Provosts and Strikemasters about Arthur. A handful of Vampires and Venoms, soon to be two Meteors and a few Gnats also airworthy. I understand a Canberra will also return to the skies in the next year or so, and the Sea Vixen is currently being repaired after u/c collapse as Jabo alluded to. Oh, lets not forget a fairly healthy population of Hunters, now that is one beautiful aircraft!
  7. Unlikely I'm afraid Arthur!Legends operates a 'pistons only' policy which is somewhat of a shame. I'd like to see them extend the invite to classic jets too. Imagine a meteor, sabre, sea vixen and even a replica 262... OoooooThat said, one cannot complain when faced with a dozen spitfires...
  8. Eagle Owl right? Stunning. They do falconry displays at Leeds Castle down the road from me. The peregrine falcon is quite a sight at full speed.
  9. Wow, nice find Pup! Beautiful creatures
  10. Hilarious guys! Apparently the junior leader's favorite band is the Beatles and aspires to look like Jean Claude Van-Damme...
  11. Indeed, one would hope she'll be shacking up at DX for the summer
  12. Interesting looking beast Dave! What did you do about the light gate for the Sidewinder?
  13. I hope she stays for legends! I can't make it now unfortunately.
  14. I might try it in a 262, it's sure to go well when I quickly advance one engine to full power...
  15. Highlights of Farnborough '51 with the famous Zurakowski Cartwheel from 2:00. I've often read about it, but this is the first time I've seen footage of it - quite a maneuver! http://www.britishpathe.com/video/highlights-of-farnborough-1951 Some back story: Zurakowski would often resort to mathematical calculations to explain his theories, but when he tried to Show Jim Heyworth, chief test pilot for Rolls Royce, that he had come up with something different, Heyworth was baffled. Zura said that he had discovered a new aerobatic manoeuvre and demonstrated the theory of it on paper. As the complex formulae were laid out in a series of notes in Zura's Hucclecote office, the RR pilot couldn't grasp the idea of a tumbling flight path. Knowing that Zura was a very competent engineer, Heyworth believed there could possibly be something there. He had little idea that he was being shown the beginnings of the Zurabatic Cartwheel. The Meteor Zurakowski used was a development version that had tip tanks and also rockets mounted on the outer wings. This was to build up a large inertia movement in the yaw axis. He would pull up to the vertical and at the right time as the speed fell off he would gun one engine to full chat. This coupled with rudder would stall turn the aircraft rapidly in the yaw axis. The inertia from the tip tanks would continue the turning movement at the top of the stall turn so that the aircraft would then achieve a further turn before the airspeed built up in the descent and stabilised the aircraft.

    Apologies

Good to hear from you Zooly! Hope the quack can do something for you mate. Also +1 to lefty suggestions ;-)
  17. Seeing Muse live at Emirates stadium. At £90/ticket and being one of my favorite bands, I'm afraid they win on this occasion!
  18. Oh borrocks. I've just realised i'm busy that Sunday... Feck it.
  19. http://www.horsemenflight.com/ Acclaimed P-51 aerobatic team will appear at both the May display and Flying Legends in July this year! So, who's up for the May display as well then?
  20. That's Peter Arnold, probably the worlds leading Spitfire expert. He has owned a few Seafire 15/17s one of which returned to flight over here a few years ago. What this guy doesn't know about Spitfires, really isn't worth knowing. Not sure on his marital status though! Haha
  21. Having just finished watching Band of Brothers (for the umpteenth time) and The Pacific (for the second time) I wondered if they'd ever do a third installment. I thought perhaps North Africa could be a choice, however I stumbled across this recent article which hints that the wheels are in motion and it is set to center around US 8th AF Bomber Boys!! As I'm sure you will all agree, this is incredibly exciting news! Here is the article: http://www.slashfilm.com/steven-spielberg-and-tom-hanks-secure-source-material-for-their-third-world-war-ii-set-hbo-miniseries/
  22. Get well soon mate! Perhaps we should prescribe a ?
  23. Wow, that Sabre Dance one is, errr fiery! Poor sod
  24. Merry Christmas Dogz!!! I'm currently relaxing on the sofa after eating my body weight in turkey and roast potatoes. Ho ho hoooooooooo
