Because I'm a noobzer that was getting sick of flying IL-2 with a 360 pad and I didn't even know it had FFB back then. The G940 was a quick and complete solution for a HOTAS setup. Alt-tab is convenient for me when I want to change mods, close applications that I've forgot, forgetting details about JO SAT tests when sitting ready on the runway, watching porn in between flights etc. It's a PIA restarting the game all the time.

The FFB is ok but IL-2 just drops the FFB every time you alt-tab the game so I've just stopped using it. Love the stick but IL-2's FFB deactivation can get on your nerves. I've heard about some workarounds somewhere and how you want the FFB to react etc. in IL-2 but I'm too lazy to mess around with it. I'm flying with all the stock pressure settings, I just figured why not just get used to the stick how it is right out of the box. Suits me well.

No weaknessses as I've found out but the pedals could have been a little bit less "flimsy". Not that they are awful right now but I don't like the rotational play(1mm maybe) they have. They are pedals for grown men for christ sake, they should feel more sturdy. And the pivot-arm should have been aluminium since I can feel the flex sometimes. Well, the pedals aren't really that good are they......

~S~ I remember back in boot-camp. We couldn't march for shit and a Leutenant from HM Kings Guard Drillsquad showed up on a recruitment visit and basically taught us what we needed to know that day(and nail it too) in one hour. Our Sergeant had given up on us like two weeks ago. I was pretty close to transfering there too but then I noticed that you HAVE TO practice even on weekend leaves, with a log resembling the Mauser they send with you that is. That was the dealbreaker for me. It's easy to spot that the Navy guys are exceptional "jugglers" though but not that exceptional with alignment and timing. HMKG does it the other way around; alignment and timing is almost everything. Music stops around 2:50. ~S~

Looks familiar, his elevators are damaged too. Why would the bear mess up the elevators though? Must be a DangerDog that...erm...bear.

FoolTrottel, I meant that it drops FFB every time you ALT-TAB and opens the game again. I like the FFB on it myself but it's kinda hard to find center when taking off etc. Without FFB it has a pre-load so that the stick always stays centred when you let go off it. I have no problems with deadzones at all. I may be weird too though.

I can't see why some would not like the G940 but it's all a matter of personal preference I guess. It works and it works good but it's also my first HOTAS ever so I might not have the best references either. How FFB disappears after

Because I prefer single malt? Yeah I do. Bowmore is my favourite so far but it depends on the mood really. I've emptied my share of Laphroaig's, Highland Park's, Ardbeg's, Lagavulin's and Smokehead's in my time. I do remember that one special sort that I fell in love with instantly though but I can't remember the name. It was a small , clear bottle and all I can remember is that it had "Islay....." on the sticker.

My software awesomeness shines once again..... Not. Ok, I've installed everything(.rar. files 1 through 7) and when I boot up the game I get some weird Russian letters on the splash-screen and after a few seconds the game shuts down. I've deleted the game now and copied another fresh 4.09m to my desktop. Anyone care for providing me with a walkthrough? I haven't opened my new 12 year old Bowmore yet though. That may very well be the issue. Not drunk enough..... *edit* Nvm, I got it installed. I extracted way too many files instead of just extracting part one in a separate folder before installing it. Works brilliantly.

Ok, thank you. I have copy/pasted two versions of IL-2 from the original Steam-version(one modded for DD and one straight 4.09 for JO) to Desktop and moved desktop to D:, just to make sure that it doesn't get overloaded and messes up C:. All 7 files for UP 2 is downloaded and wow, it took a while. Gotta go walk a friends dog before I start the installing process, this patch is huge(that's what she said). Cheers!

Thanks, do I need to install UP 1.8 first or is 2.0 good to go all by itself?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if UP 2 and TS 3 is all I need to get up to speed and where to find UP 2? I've just patched to 4.09m. Any mods/patches in between there that I have missed?
