  1. I saw a post for drivers. Try the Vista 64 bit ones for Win 7 64 bit. All the trouble I had was no more than a corrupt download. Win7 installed perfectly.
  2. Huh? I don't know if the guy was guilty or not not but since he was convicted I must assume he was. He would have caused the mental anguish of thousands of people over the death their innocent loved ones. The victims are the ones who deserve compassion, certainly not the ones with evil in their heart. Mourn the sheep, the wolves choose their own destiny.
  3. The 39 is one of my favourites. When pushed too far one wing will stall and snap roll then into a spin. As soon as it drops a wing I give a hard stab at opposite rudder, chop throttle. Most important is the rudder though. If you let it develop into a full spin(where the nose is bobbing up and down) it's usually too late.
  4. I download the file again and burned another disk in the manner that Jabo suggested. As well, I burned the disk at 4x instead of the max speed and stayed off the computer. For the first time a message was on the screen at the end that "the contents of this disk are incompatible with your OS"(XP). I'm taking that as a good sign and I'll spin it up when I get the chance.
  5. Correct and many thanks Jabo for your 2 am help. checking the disk health and downloading again is the cheapest option to start with
  6. So i hit a key to boot from CD Windows is loading files and completes and an error. Windows failed to start hardware or software changes may have etc etc insert Win disk and hit repair etc FILE \windows\sytem32\boot\winload.exe STATUS 0xc0000001 INFO entry cannot be loaded application is missing or corrupt Hit enter anyway and Choose OS to start but the only option I have is Windows Setup [EMS enabled] enter on that and I go back to the first "windows failed to start" screen enter again and back to the "choose OS" screen where the only other option far below is the Memory Diagnostic tool. That runs to 100% with no errors. Exit all that and the drive with XP loads fine. The only thing I can think of is the download is corrupt or something is wrong with the HDD itself. I'll download the file again and add to my collection of Memorex coasters I do have one other option after that. I still have a third HD. A 36G Raptor. If Win7 loads on that drive then the new HD is defective.
  7. I'm a little confused. My Win7 folder(the one I unzipped if memory serves)
  8. Ahh ok thanks. So I just made myself yet another Memorex coaster. I give that a whirl.
  9. I unzipped the file into a Win7 folder in my downloads folder. I then put the target path as that folder C:\Downloads\win7. That is correct isn't it? I don't have to point to a particular file?
  10. I favour rye whiskey myself but it's close enough. We also have big cars with lots of room for women, shotguns and all the other essentials. I will admit though with the economy being what it is I've had to make some concessions. Toned down to a crossover(how come it used to be a station wagon?), traded the semi-auto for a pump and the wife stays home. As for the rye ..... I still buy the good stuff. Some things are sacred. That being said this is Canada, the only beer we have comes in a bottle or ... dare I say ... a can?
  11. Yup. We have multi core processors cheap enough to be mainstream now. Processor speed doesn't look like it's going much past 3mhz. The only performance gain is going to be through spreading stuff across multiple cores. Years back I got an Athalon64 in anticipation of Longhorn, what a waste of $ that was. Things seem to be sorted out much better now. Might as well get on it.
  12. 7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd.iso That is the file name. There are detailed instructions on their site. I must have missed a step.
  13. I did use ImgBurn (for the first time) and followed their instructions for an ISO image. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=50a34d0125cdada9f94edf4397eb202c&showtopic=11194 Obviously I missed something. I didn't get a message to boot off the DVD but I'm sure I have the DVD drive as first in boot priority. Thanks for the help. I'll go through it again and check carefully.
  14. Hmm, nothing happened. Funny though. I can see the SATA drive I installed in "my computer" yet I don't see it in the BIOS boot priority list (not formatted?) It just booted off the usual SATA drive. I have both plugged in to boot disk slots (slot 1 and 2 are master "boot" connections. 3 and 4 are slave data disk slots) Just for fun I clicked the install program while in explorer and it gave me the "not a valid Win32 application", that kinda makes sense with XP32 bit. Did I botch the DVD image burn? Should I try formatting the disk first through XP? Maybe I should unplug the main drive with the XP install and try it with just the blank drive? Just a noob thinking out loud here..........
  15. Could you elaborate a bit on that? I look for "disk option" in BIOS and ...... Should I update the BIOS to the latest?
  16. Could be but I think thats more of an overall identifier rather than the trojan name.
  17. I didn't think it would take long to get out of hand but it was fun while it lasted. You have to wonder though how oppressed the founding fathers must have felt to write that into the very core of the government. No doubt they all came from places oppressed by tyranny. Funny though, a lot of the most vehemently opposed are the same ones with their military at the airport with MP5's and the like. The only one I ever saw in person was at NASA of all places. Everyone else was oblivious but I was very aware of a guy walking across the food court with an MP5 tucked under his coat.
  18. Anyone have it? It's been so long since I've done this .... I bought and hooked up another HD. It now shows as my D drive. To install Win 7 on it I: Disconnect from internet 1 Reboot and set the DVD drive as 1st in the boot priority via BIOS.(set bios to defaults? no OC going on now) 2 Reboot with the Win7 installation disk in, it should boot and ask what drive to format? 3 Select the new (empty) drive and let it go? 4 Its only 150G, I see no need to partition. Should I format the drive while it's still drive D through XP? (my computer, right click on D drive and one option is format) NTFS? allocation unit size? Once it's installed can I boot off one drive or the other by changing boot priority in BIOS regularly? There's always a ton of stuff I forget. Like having a firewall and browser ready to install before formatting. Is the Win 7 firewall any good?
  19. If you know the name of the Trojan you might find a removal tool at Norton or another site.
  20. As for the artwork, the canopy glare to me stands out as the wrong angle but overall it's about 1000x better than anything I could ever come up with.
  21. The original foo fighters.
  22. Hmmm I just burned Win 7 to a disk and will install on a separate hdd in a day or two. I can't get AA3 to run with XP at all. I've read the same problem with UT3, the base game engine. I think that patch is called Ubi-fix. No idea if it will help with the CD.
  23. You could download cpu-z. It will tell you what DDR2 you have. Mine is PC2-6400 DDR2-800 and I just got more to match. You can get faster but it will all run at the speed of the slowest you have installed.
