  1. "in the groove"! Oh *ell I nearly sprayed coffee. Thanks for making my morning.
  2. And what exactly is the problem? That looks like the view from my plane most of the time. Are you telling me that's not normal flying conditions. Seriously, I've tried to land that way a couple of times. Just ended-up ripping-off the landing gear and belly skidded to a stop. That took a lot of skill for you to land it successfully, so hats off to ya.
  3. Yep I can pick-up dots fairly well, but have trouble identifying friend or foe until I'm very close (some day I'll upgrade from a laptop with 14" screen) or they start shooting at me. Plus as you said, anyone is usually at a disadvantage flying solo & I didn't immediately recognise anyone to try buddy-up with when I got on last evening. Oh well, that's also why my pilot is a skeleton. Kill me all you want, but I will keep coming back for more. Enjoy the target practice.
  4. That's the exact problem I ran into. Think I'll be running my commands from the keyboard too. BTW. Thanks for the offer Shadow, but I don't want anyone to have to create it just for me. I was just wondering if anyone had already set one up.
  5. Yeah, this really seems like it's going to be a PITA. I'm giving-up for now. If I have an itch to fly a Betty or something, I'll stick thumb out window, check sun-dial & drop em at random. Just call me Captain Collateral Damage!
  6. After a couple of days trying unsuccessfully to create one from scratch. I'm throwing in the towel before I totally lose it & throw the computer. So now I have to ask. Does anyone have an X-52 profile for flying bombers & running the bomb-sight, ext. that you'd be willing to send my way?
  7. Crash, I think you'll like Shadow's profile. He sent it to me right after I got my X-52 a couple weeks ago & the engine management stuff is no big deal now. I've only made a few minor tweaks to the profile & it's working very well for me. I even joined my first coop this weekend & had a great time until they wanted me to fly a p-38 & I still hadn't set-up all the multi-engine controls. I spent some time yesterday setting that up & now just need to figure out the bombsight stuff & I'll be pretty much up to speed.
  8. That is really nice Bad Aim. I'd love something like that, but our place is just too small. My cockpit simply involves sitting on the couch with the laptop on the coffee table. My stick & throttle between them on a small ice chest & stepping stool. Oh well, the table also has plenty of space for adult beverages.
  9. Ahhhh, Sounds like you've got yourself a 91/30 like I speak of in my sig line. With bayonet fixed, mine is almost as tall as I am.
  10. BTW. Hurry back Klinger
  11. Good to see I won't be the only frequent bailer. Just aim your flaming corps at my canopy. I'll try to break your fall.
  12. I think I've seen that same B-17 Rattler. IIRC, She's called Sentimental Journey. They had her & some others down here a couple years ago for a little show they called "Props over Provo" to help raise funds for a bigger hanger when the Utah wing moved from the Salt Lake airport to the one in Provo. We got to see her up close, inside & out. Took many pictures too, but couldn't afford to go for a ride at the time. They were also giving rides in a P-40 which I think is one of the planes that resides here. If I ever get another chance, I'm going to plunk down the money & go for it. Here's a pick of one of the planes they had down here that day (looks like I haven't uploaded any of the others). The pilot had just landed & let us get an up close & personal look at her before they put-up the rope.
  13. Thanks, I'll give that a try.
  14. The X-52 controller I ordered has finally showed-up & I've almost got set up the way I want it. One of the few things I still have to do is assign one of the buttons as my push to talk button for Teamspeak. I've tried but just can't seem to figure out how to do it. So can anyone explain how to do it?
  15. That's very cool. I've never seen a Spit before. I think this was one of the Commemorative Air Force- Utah Wing's planes. They are based at the Provo airport not far from this one.
  16. I work very close to a small airport & had to go pay some bills during lunch today. As I walk out the door I can hear that deep throaty sound of a big motor overhead, not the sound of the usual small planes. I looked up and there was the deep blue fuselage & checkered cowling of what looked like a P-47 circling low & slow over our building. What a beautiful sight.
  17. Coolest things I've driven? A freinds old Buick with the 455-rocket under the hood. Very, very fast off the line. My better half's modified 79 camaro Z-28. Not a quarter mile car, but a car that does over 160mph and can maintain it for a while. Have shot lots of things, but no full auto yet. Bad Aim's right a 12ga cambering can be a sobering sound normally, but especially so when it's cambering through a Kalashnikov action from an 8 round magazine.
  18. Nope I will not be showing-up anyone yet. Sometimes the enemy don't even have to waist ammo on me as I'm perfectly capable of over-taxing my plane into an uncontrollable stall & tumbling to the ground all by myself. They also learned that just wounding me was not a good though. I would then drop down low bobbing & weaving my way at top speed until I could belly-flop my flaming aircraft, load of bombs & my own carcass across the carrier deck & through the tower in a perfectly spectacular pyrotechnic display for the Emperor. Got to say though. That "divine wind" under the kilt tickles a wee bit.
  19. Ummmm..... I'm a desert hermit, but you I bet you want a bit more detail huh. Well I'm 38 and live in Utah. Besides my newly rediscovered love of flight sims, I can be found spending my spare time somewhere in the mountains or out in the desert digging holes or deep inside an old mine dodging rattle snakes, playing with scorpions & looking for gems & minerals with my son & the better half. I also enjoy doing a little lapidary work (cutting & polishing gems & minerals into cabochons) & shooting. Oh & don't worry about me stealing the sheep, there are plenty around here & I have my hands full trying to keep the brother-in-law out of the herds I've claimed. Ok the old hick's brain is a bit slow this morning. What does this mean? Although I'd gladly accept the whisky since I refilled my sporran flask this weekend & realized I'm almost out of scotch.
  20. Oops. I meant to post this in the general forum.
  21. I've read the standing orders and other threads & followed all the instructions for getting set-up. Now I guess I just need to know specifically where to go when I want to fly with all of ya. Could someone let me know.
