  1. That microphone is amazing. What gain it must have......
  2. Must..............resist.............pressing.................smiley....................... oh well....
  3. I've done that with an artillery simulator and an army helmet. Not MY helmet of course......they'll go up about 50-60 feet.....
  4. Major work mostly done. Some gear details to do. Several issues with the design of the kit in general, but overall an easy kit to build for the average modeler. Hard to find room for all these 1/32 scale planes I'm building though!
  5. Yup, they'll dominate your time for many years to come. Thankfully, they're more fun than flying is! Cheers, mate, and enjoy!
  6. From what I've read about the Great War, the pilots truly believed themselves to be Knights of the Sky, and successors to chivalric tradition and all of its codes. They wouldn't normally have gone at each other once the other was put out of action. There are umpteen stories of dogfights that ended when 1 pilot ran out of ammunition, and the other waved, saluted, and flew away, not willing to shoot an unarmed opponent. I'm sure that there were also cases of cold blooded killers like Beurling, who probably would've shot the bugger where he landed. I don't think that I'd be able to kill a pilot like that.
  7. Still not his birthday yet....I think I'll kill this thread......
  8. That looks lovely, Dave! I'm impressed! I'm glad that you stuck it out too. I've had such problems before, and binned the thing in disgust at my efforts! Nice job.
  9. Have a great holiday, you Yanks! (even if your aren't all Yankees, or Yankee fans, or whatever - you USA people, you know who you are!)
  10. It is getting close to his actual birthday though......geez, mate - you're only 5 years younger than my father! You still come across as such a young fellow, BG!
  11. It's not his birthday, guys. It was the ATM's anniversary, which JP decided to celebrate. No one knows why, and we don't ask about such matters. Kelly is Kelly.
  12. I use a Badger Anthem 155 airbrush, with a compressor and 5 gallon airtank, and I'll never go back to a regular brush or spray bomb.
  13. You leave me out of it, buddy. They must see you as your liberal, environmentally conscious, granola munching, commie self, dude! I'm sure that's it.... Maybe your yard needs a shrubbery.....

    TrackIR advice

I got both a used TIR (BG's old TIR3 with vector expansion, running 6DOF), and a used set of CH Pro pedals (from ebay.) I love them both. I would go for the used route for rudder pedals again, as I got the pedals and a good Saitek X45 stick and throttle for about $100 CDN. If I could afford it, I'd get a new TIR 5. I like the X45 as well. It's been a good stick for me. The CH Pro pedals are rock solid.
  15. I use 3 types: a cyano based instant glue, white glue for plastic parts, and various Testors liquid glues (red tube, and very thin liquid in a bottle.) I prefer to use the Testors liquid for most things, but if I need a quick solid joint, out comes the cyano. It's good for gap filling as well.
  16. They would be scraped off, mate. You're correct - model glues do not mix well with paints, as the solvent melts the paint rather than the plastic. However, as the solvents also craze clear plastics, I'll be using white glue (Elmer's) to attach the screen and canopy, so there's no problem.
  17. Ok, latest update. First coat of bare aluminium on. The engine panels and gun bay panels are removable, so the gaps will be more noticable than when mounted properly. Also, the control surfaces are movable, so they will be displayed properly too.
  18. Are those miniatures designed for battle reinactments, a'la Warhammer?
