  1. Ok , I have it all figured out now and we can run the ww missions with our settings so we will give that a try tonight.
  2. I plan to run standard co-ops or use ww server until we can see if I can edit missions sucessfully to get them to run as we wish. I believe that I can manually edit the planes in mission editor to change loadout but I am stumped about icons. It is my belief from reading the manual that server settings should override mission settings but having set up the server correctly there is still an issue. The manual is long and complicated so I might have this wrong. Editing a mission is a bit of work so until I get feedback on which missions we like there is no point in just randomly doing this and then not enjoying them. I have posted on WW dischord so hopefully someone with more experience there can help.
  3. Thanks craven, appreciate your help, we have some issues with icons and locked payouts but I have posted on your dischord
  4. Thanks FT, If you could prepare them as a first option that would be great and I can have a look later when Im more confident about using our server. The names are de-novorossiysk bay 42( with tc) uk-north africa '42(with tc) regards dave
  5. Thanks Craven we appreciate your generosity , however I have some issues 1) I cannot open the files in the mission editor as it can only looks for mission files and not files with .msnbin suffix so I cannot generate mission files, however it is my belief that you dont need this as I remove the large mission files from my generated co-ops and these run sucessfully. 2) I can use the files from my dogfight/GB_PublicServer folder to create a dogfight server on my own pc and successfully fly the WW missions, but if I copy the same files into the dogfight folder on the server and then try to run them on a dogfight server I get the file transfer error.
  6. very strange , no server messages for kicking , but then why only our server could the other user have remote access to Nogins PC ? but unlikley if ip keeps changing
  7. The only reason I can think of a server kicking a player is a ping kick, does our server have a tighter tolerance than others? Having said that another user should not effect your ping unless sharing a connection I would be interested to see a graph of his pings before and after this anomaly
  8. He is not a member of the squad and has no access to server settings or admin so cannot effect the server. Check your ping to server and see if it spikes when he joins, you can use a program like pingplotter
  9. Crash have you monitored the temps on your graphics card? Do you overclock this? Can you borrow a different card and try this?
  10. Further research has made me think that it would be best to change this to a 73 Squadron RAF Campaign No 73 were one of a handful of Squadrons transferred to protect the BEF in France in 1939-1940. Flying Hurricanes it fought actions intercepting reconnaissance aircraft, bombers and protecting the fairey battles in attacking convoys and bridges. Its last action was covering the evacuations from St Nazzaire. Historically it underwent conversion to night fighter operations but we will have some leeway here Subsequently they were transferred to Cairo and flying P-40s and Hurricane Mk 2s they fought in the desert campaigns against the Africa korp (we will put a short stay in Malta into the mix) Finally they converted to spitfires and covered the Italian and Balkan campaign. I have ordered a book on the squadron history and will use this as reference but the missions will be an approximation and we will have to substitute some planes. I would appreciate any thoughts or feedback on this
  11. Yes I intend to do this . I like that staying alive should be priority
  12. Now that I am able to generate missions and host I am planning to run a campaign loosely based on fenrers s P-38 campaign and based on Geoffrey Wellums career. With numbers currently low , we would all fly RAF, however if I can drum up enough support and others express an interest then both sides will be flyable. So will start with Battle of France, Battle of Britain, Reach out to France, Malta, and then fictionally the Desert Air Force. I would like to know if there is any interest in this from outside, Crash, Professor, Mosquito and Petrol ,who I have discussed this with on comms, so I can estimate numbers for missions. I also intend to promote this on the main BoX forums to try to get others interested in flying with us. This is in the very early stages so any suggestions or advise will be gratefully accepted.
  13. ok thanks ☹️ Given the large numbers involved in the mosquito mission perhaps its best if the BoX users fly on a public server.
  14. there will obviously be no P-38 campaign on Sunday. I would like to host BoX co-ops for those not interested in this event. Would that cause any server issues? If not how would be co-ordinate access to the server between the two users ?
  15. Hi Bucky , there are about 5 of us playing battle of Stalingrad regularly on Tuesday and Sunday nights, although there is a discussion about changing some dates. If you only have battle of Stalingrad then it limits the type of missions we can host but I'm willing to set up some missions so you can join. Let me know when you are free to join us and I will try my best. Most have all the expansion packs but I realize that is a big commitment when you are just getting back
  16. Is there any interest in hosting desert maps , It would require all to install a mod to turn kuban to desert, like we used in Friars campaign
  17. I claim 3 trucks, 2 howitzer and 1,AA on return from escorting the bombers to successful attack on bridge
  18. Some who voted may be planning to return to box in the future so I don't think that their vote is worth less than others. I think that people probably voted to keep the same nights as they didn't want box diminished further and have no interest in dcs However there was only one vote swing on a low turnout so I think there is room to compromise. If the regular box flyers were willing to move Tuesday to Wednesday and retain Sunday then DC's could have the Tuesday slot. The regular Tuesday flyers are professor, crash, mosquito, petrol and myself . If there is an agreement from the rest of this group to move then I would be happy to host Wednesday nights. Once happy with hosting I'm going back to the official box forums to try to get others to join us but need to get this issue sorted first
  19. This seemed to go well, please leave comments on any missions you want to do in the future Typhoon was mentioned so I'll ad this in
  20. I am going to try to host coops on Tuesday night. This is atrial and I plan to host some coops I have made, if you want any specific planes or scenarios let me know and I will try to fit these in . I will start at 2000 and end 2100 UK time.
  21. I believe that the core of the group is in coops and that to attract new members and keep them interested then we should get back to these. Under Colin s guidance I am learning how to generate missions and use the server so we should get things moving soon. There is no use of me doing this if it isn't what others want so I wouldn't appreciate some input. Do you want coops? What type of missions do you like? What planesets? Long or short missions ? Would you prefer random or themed nights ? Any ideas appreciated. We seem to get more people interested in special events so my ultimate aim is to run something similar to fenrers p-38 campaign but I will need to get used to things first Hopefully this will get some interest back in box
  22. I like the Mediterranean theatre, 42ish would be fun if possible
  23. I think that " its always someone else's job" because of apathy, people have thought that we have been ok therefore nothing needed to be done, and a lack of oversight from the whole squad. I am as guilty as anyone as I had thought that the quorum members would deal with squad issues and inform the wider group of any problems but with folk dropping out perhaps that isnt the case. Perhaps we need volunteers for specific areas, IMHO the minimum would be : a treasurer to ensure we were financially stable recruitment officer hosting/server admin. Im not saying the person in the post should have sole responsibility but act as an overseer and contact for issues
  24. I am becoming very concerned over the state of the squad. First and crucial is finances to run our servers. There just isn't the contribution to support these. It is unfair to expect Reger to pay these and then hope to recoup this over the year, he should be paid up front. We need people to commit either by annual or monthly subscription. If we can spend £50 to £70 on a DC's aircraft surely we can pay for server. but the box nights are now on public servers so only used for events like p-38 campaign so don't know if it's fair to ask box users for same contribution. Secondly, squad numbers. I believe that we have around 10 active DC's users and 5 Box users, and I don't know how long Box will survive as interesting for remaining users as it is not squad coops but just meeting up on public servers. We have had these discussions before and have muddled through but I think it's crucial that we address these, numbers are not going to increase, people aren't joining in enough numbers to replace those that are dropping out, so we urgently need a get our finances under control and have a serious discussion and decision on the way forward for us to survive.
