  1. Make sure your FB folder isn't read only?
  2. Yahoo! I hope so, fingers crossed my 'to do list' is completed today. Estate Agent (Realtor) coming round to take photos tomorrow so I really have to get a lot done before I can kick back today.
  3. NP Glenn. One step at a time, there are other things we can do M8, but I like to start with a solid foundation
  4. Sounds like DLL corruption or missing. Have you run a check disk recently? If not I suggest you do as a starting point (right click you 'C' drive in explorer -> 'properties' -> 'tools' -> 'Check Now'. Tick both boxes in the pop up dialogue and Click 'Start'. You will then need to restart your PC for it to run.
  5. Windows update can be configured to 'advise' of updates but not download: Control Panel -> Security Center -> Automatic Update Select 'Notify me but don't download updates'. This will then put a yellow shield in your system tray when updates are available. Antivirus, most packages can be configured to do the same. Messenger programs, Yahoo, MSN Gtalk etc. I would sign out and exit those. Often overlooked, some have Disk De-fragmentation programs that will work in the background when they think the system is idle. Disk Keeper seems to regard low disk IO as an indicator of an idle system and will commence a defrag whilst IL2:FB is running.
  6. Canon. 'nuff said Ok may be a little more detail, you are looking for USB 2 and a resolution of around (or better than) 2400 x 4800. Ideally a transparency adapter too so you can scan in the negatives that you will find that have no prints. My father is an ex-RAF photo Eng and was a keen photographer (he went to college with Ken Russell the director of all people ). He bought the CanoScan 9950F which is an excellent bit of kit @ $400US and is impressed with it's performance and results: FARE is excellent as it will 'automagicaly' remove scratches etc. and re-adjust saturation (this is also available on the CanoScan 8400F @ $150US) HP make a good range of scanners too, and Epson could also be considered as they have (or at least used to) unique resolution enhancing technology. But you know Canon quality ;)
  7. I haven't used F6 since I weaned off WW. I'd forgotten about it I could never get on with TIR and WW, :drunken: :pukeleft: :pukeright:
  8. I saw that one too! then remembered that until I flew with the DD's I too flew mostly WW (I rarely if ever fly off-line except for DD challenges) as the servers I was familiar with were WW. I recall feeling very noobish in my first 7 or so on line DFs. I flew pit on blissfully unaware of the fact that there was another way, and marvelled at the scores the other players got. Came close to giving it up, then realised their dark secret
  9. 2 weeks All quiet on that front at the moment...
  10. Cool I finally won something. Took 100+ attempts (theres dedication/addiction for you - delete as appropriate). A fantastic training mission, teaches ground pounding and sa avoiding enemy AC and AA. Rudder control is a big help too, this mission is a keeper for me as I learnt so much. Looking forward to your next challenge Dave, excellent work m8 S!

    NORTON GHOST

Use either 9 0r 10. Yes you cab install it prior to reformat, back up, then selectively restore after re-installing it. IIRC it uses on-line activation, it can be bought as a download. This then needs to be burnt to a CD from which it will install.

Colin has the Medusa 'phones too. Very nice, good sound and comfy too. The old ATI fan death, so common....
  13. Good idea, post away and I'll either copy the reviews/recommendations to a new sticky thread or tidy this one up You guys are aware that you can create stickies yourselves? And indeed moderate this forum? we are aware of this but are too lazy to do anything about it...in fact I'm dictating this to my secretary to type in... (actually, how do you do it?) When creating a thread you have an option to make a sticky....not to be confused with Saitek adverts... It is one of the choices, along with 'Poll'. You can also edit the first post in a thread, and change it to a sticky that way

  15. Yes please, a worthy addition to my wardrobe  And advice on ergonomics gratefully accepted, I want to appear my best when I get those boots and suspender belt. I'll skip on the panties though, they don't look too comfortable and I really don't want to cramp my style
  16. Is it just me that thinks Frior-One is under some sort of hypnotic spell? I can almost imagine his missus sitting there with a doll-size version of him, a pin and a disturbing fixation on his eyes whenever an image of a hot semi-naked babe pops up on screen.
  17. You use one of those as a button pad?? Sorry, just saw the joystick.....was jealous for a moment then
  18. I did. Thankfully I was sitting down :shaking:
  19. Had the misfortune to listen to this at work with headphones on. Was nearly in the same state....... http://www.metacafe.com/watch/73069/be_quiet/
  20. Jane says 'you've got a whiner then'.... Didn't say when she whined though
  21. I'll take two. One for getting to work and the other for coming home
  22. Had the same with a 9600 card, fan failed. Got worse when I attempted to fit an after market fan, stupidly got brutal(ish) with it and the card never worked again. Think I cracked the GPU pressing the fan locating pins in place....doh!
