Possible Change To DangerDogz Flying Schedule - Please Vote
Zukker replied to Friar's topic in Jim's Place
Hi, I would love to do Warbirds DCS one night, DCS Jets another and Il2 GBS on the third night. Although to be honest I would be hard pressed to make all three nights. For what it is worth I also prefer missions like IL2GBS ratherthan just open session. Cheers -
DCS Event: Ramrod 564 - The Amiens Prison Raid [REDUX]

Yes I would love to fly the Mossie and have Wingflyer in the same Squd. Thanks Fen -
Let me know when you are going to run this one. I would love to fly the Huey! looks to be a great and fun mission. Lui

Hi , HiFriar,. Denis said you had a great idea for a mission and may be looking for some mission editor help. I had created a mission similar to your idea last year. In my mission a Tomcat had an engine failure and had the pilots had to bail. We played as Huey pilots flying off the Tarawa and had to go pick them up and deliver them to a base on shore that had a hospital. The pilots were being hunted by two enemy convoys and had to be dealt with. All done on the Syria map. I have included the mission down below if you are interested in having a look at it. My mission is not as ambitious as yours but has some of the same elements. If I can be of any help in this let me know. I would love to participate in this mission when it is all done. My bad, you need the Channel Map and WW2 Assets pack to participate. Cheers

Hello one and All, I have been working on a mission/sandbox type scenario for the Channel Map in DCS. It is an attempted to re-create some of the old Cliff of Dover fights we used to do. I have set up a scenario that will allow you to fly a Spitfire, P-51 or Mosquito in an environment where you have the choice to fly a dedicated mission (up to 5 per plane group) or simply fly a patrol in which random events will occur for you to interact with. The dedicated missions are optional and can be ignored completely if you wish. I have also include P-47 and other Spitfires and P-51's that have the patrol part of the mission but DO NOT have any defined missions associated with them. You should be able to switch between any of the planes if you want to, but currently only 1 squadron of 4 planes of Spitfires, P-51's or Mossies have assigned missions. The map has quite a lot of random events associated with it. I made all German planes set to random, so that you will never know what you are up against. I have made the number of enemy planes and location somewhat random so, hopefully, you will to have the fly the mission a number of times before it repeats itself. I have included ship attacks, bombing missions, escort missions and defense missions as part of the map. There is also some missions that do not activate until later on in the mission or until you make it over to France. This mission is geared for about 2 hours, but that is something that needs to be tested. Eventually I would like to add more missions, including some for the P-47 and eventually include German missions as well. As you might have guess the map is becoming quite complicated. Although two of us have tested it and it seems to work, I need more people to play at the same time to get a feel for how it runs and what needs to be improved. The map will have FOG of war settings on so as not to give too much away. If you are available on Thursday Feb 9 and would to participate and help me out please come on in to the Dogz server and join us. No need to sign up just come on it. Afterwards I would like some critique on how to improve the mission (be nice if does not quite work out as it is still a work in progress). Below is an image of the Channel map that we can work from.

Thank Fen!!! I had a blast as well! The briefing (although rather long) made me feel like I was to embark on a real WW2 mission. It certainly made it more immersive. I know how much work, blood, sweat and teeth grinding goes into creating a fantastic mission as this was. Can't wait till the next one! (Wink, wink, Nudge, Nudge.) Thanks so very much Fen!

Count me in as a Mossie pilot or Navigator unless unforeseen circumstances prevent me for attending. Cheers

Toad, My heart goes out to you. My Dad just had another "attack" and ended up in the hospital. Luckily they fixed him up and he is now back home. Dealing with family health issues are never fun and although with my Dad who is 87, health issues were not unexpected. My wife, on the other hand, has really changed my perspective and what I thought retirement would be. All the best Toad and I wish you much good will. Lui

Thank you to all whom responded with kind words. I really have enjoyed being part of this community and your words of support mean a world to me right now. Luckily I have friends, neighbors, and family whom are around to support both my dad, my wife and myself in these challenging times.

First of all I have missed flying with the Dogz for the last few months. Wingflyer and Artie convinced me to get back into sim-flying after being away from it for a long time wasting time with FPS's like Call of Duty and BattleField a few years back. I was a very lowly ranked beginner when I first joined causing more danger to my flying mates than to the enemy. I have improved and consider myself, although no expert, to be someone whom can help the team. As to why I have not been on-line lately. A few months ago my father was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. I did not know the prognosis for him would be at the beginning, so I took some time away to spend more time with him. It has now been 8 months of continuous Chemo, weeks on and weeks off and the cancer has not progressed much at all. That is good news as he is still around and complaining to my mom how he wants to drive to his cabin on the lake which is 5 hours away! Unfortunately, just recently my wife has become seriously ill with multitude of issues. I am in the process of becoming the primary care giver to her. Although she is capable of doing most things, her prognosis may not be good. I am spending more time with her during the day, which is when the Dogz have missions and flying sessions. Thus means that most of my flying time in during my evenings and I been able to fly with Wingflyer, Perfessor, Arie and Sherrif. I may be able to join the odd session in my afternoon but will not be ale to commit to any long term running missions for the foreseeable future. My sim-flying is still important to me as it lets me unwind from the days events. If things change and I am able to participate more often I will certainly do so with much enthusiasm. Please continue to inform me of missions for I still would love to join when I can. However, please realize, that some things may be out of my control I may refuse or have to pull out at the last moment. Thank you for letting be part of a great community now and hopefully for a long time to come.

He will need to have it installed in the server game to run the mission. It is a really simple , much more so than the A4 mod that currently exists in our server. I will send Fen the final version of Operation Doodle Bug sometime today. I have just a couple of very minor tweaks that I want to do. Cheers
-
How about we try to run Operation Doodle Bug on Thursday March 4 at 8:00 pm English time? If you want to take part just make sure you have the V1 mod file installed as I described above. I will send the mission to Fen in order to run it on the Dogz server. Cheers.

How to get the V1 mod to run this mission: 1) go to this site in DCS downloads: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3319979/?sphrase_id=11179887 2) Download the Chase of the V-1 Rocket Mission 3) Unzip this folder. You will now have two folders. Missions contains a simple V1 rocket chase mission. Run this one whenever you like. The other is a Mods folder. If you do not have a Mods folder in your DCs saved games then just drag this one to where ever you have DCS openbeta saved game folder. Mine is on my C drive. You will be good to go. 4) If you already have a Mods folder in your DCS saved game folder then just open up the Mods folder from the download, then open up the air craft folder, and copy and paste the Fi103 folder into your aircraft folder of your Mods folder in your DCS saved game folder. I plan on running my mission on beta as that is the only copy of DCS I have. Let me know if you have any issues and I can help you out. Cheers and hope we can run this mission this Thursday. Is that possible Fen?
