2. Administrators Jabo Posted November 16, 2015 2. Administrators Posted November 16, 2015 In the meantime, my jaw dropped at 2:44 on this one: VC10 ftw! Couldn't agree more. Always had a soft spot for the VC10 and that was flippin' low! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
DD_Arthur Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Once upon a time I did quite a fair few air miles in Her Majesty's VC10's and the one thing thats all ways struck me - compared to our modern holiday jets - is how smooth and quiet they are. Quote

BluBear Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 This is a new one on me! Although it did happen 6 months before I was born Quote
DD_Arthur Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Although it did happen 6 months before I was born OMG! I was twenty when this happened. In fact I've posted this before. This was the last landing he made in the FAA, even though I would have thought it a pretty good one. His remarks to the cameras scuppered his career - even though the british taxpayer had spent around £2 million on his training - he never flew again. Edit; Oh! I was wrong. He did go on to have a career in the FAA. 1 Quote
rox Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Quite possibly the most realistic airplane film ever made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9wpeg9q5C4 Quote
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted November 23, 2015 1. DDz Quorum Posted November 23, 2015 Realistic? You kiddin'? Whenever and however would any sane pilot in combat with a git on his tail dive a bridge? And, whatever stoopid git on the tail will follow him? No way, sorry. Oh, I get it, you áre kiddin'.... Pearl Harbor 4 the win, hey? Quote
rox Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 No FT, I'm serious, especially about the part where they chase each other with 10 meters of clearance and jet airplanes sounding like electric cars. Quote
BluBear Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Only watched a few minutes of this so far, but looks interesting. Rare footage of 64sqn at Hornchurch in 1942. http://player.bfi.org.uk/film/watch-64-squadron-at-raf-station-hornchurch-1942/ 2 Quote

BluBear Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Excellent! I need to reserve myself some time to watch it all as well now Quote
rox Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Politics completely aside, great Syrian Mig-21 video. Brave pilot to fly this rusty battered thing, it looks like an airplane version of the walking dead. I guess it's somewhat of a nice example of its reliability. Quote
DD_Bongodriver Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Now that actually makes Bob Hoovers stunts look like a student PPL dicking around, literally jaw dropping, not only rolled it but it was effectively a flick roll and all done at low level. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted January 18, 2016 2. Administrators Posted January 18, 2016 Was Hoover the pilot of that B-52 that went in with passengers on board? On a lighter note here's some more old footage of another roll Quote
BluBear Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 Certainly not mate! Bob Hoover is one of the greatest pilots that ever lived (still with us age 93). See his well documented dead-stick energy display in a shrike commander. The B52 chap, Bud Holland, was an irresponsible showboater that recklessly killed himself and his crew. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_Fairchild_Air_Force_Base_B-52_crash Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted January 18, 2016 2. Administrators Posted January 18, 2016 Well I got the initials right anyway. Apologies to Mr Hoover and I believe your summisation of Mr Holland is pretty right. Have you seen the picture of his 'low pass' in Sally B?<br /><br /><br />Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

He also recklessly crashed a passenger filled A-26 at Biggin Hill, whilst ignoring the pilot's notes and aerobating the thing. See here: http://napoleon130.tripod.com/id510.html Nasty stuff Quote

See here: http://napoleon130.tripod.com/id510.html Nasty stuff You're quite right of course Chris, I appear to be having some sort of brain-fade episode recently. Don Bullock's flying was going to kill him sooner or later as the pictures below attest...This is Sally-B flown without the usual care and delicacy she deserves (in my view). The sad part is that he was to take a number of people with him and destroy a valuable aircraft to boot. And here's some footage of Don flying Sally-B and the Invader at Duxford (no crash footage in this video) Quote
