  1. Not entirely sure that's going to work for you m8, surely the LEDs have to be attached to either your headset or cap to register the movement of your head? I've used a vx1000 with a couple of small squares of floppy disk placed in front of the CCD (had to remove the IR filter too). Then built a 'track clip' with 3 IR LEDs which is attached to my headset. The camera only 'sees' the LEDs (because of the floppy disk material), and the movement of the LEDs relative to each other is translated by the FreeTrack software into view slewing in the game. Oh, and I've powered this via a spare USB port (had to place a small resistor in series with the LEDs to ensure the voltage was dropped down a little, but otherwise no problems). ~S~ Jabo
  2. You can tell it's not an airshow over here. In the UK it would be a) raining and there would be a cluster of DDz under the wing trying to keep dry.

  4. Not sure this is correct, but would you not be using only half the bus width under 32 bit? ~S~ Jabo

Not in the UK m8, most of the high street retailers ship Vista 32 bit as standard. ~S~ Jabo
  6. Nice one Smash - now get that 'DD_' on the front of your callsign! ~S~ Jabo
  7. Sid, would it be possible on the x52 to map the three modes to takeoff/general/landing? If so, presumably you would be able to give yourself a suite of general settings for each part of the flight, which could then be modified if necessary? ~S~ Jabo

    Can't install game

Yep, found that after googling another forum. Although I have installed the game in Program Files, that is where I'm keeping the vanilla install. I then copied the game folder to c:\ and updated that copy with the mods. Oh, I've turned off the UAC too. ~S~ Jabo

Yeah, I'm hearing good things about Windows 7, in fairness, I only went for Vista because I managed to buy a copy of Home Premium upg (produced before MS changed the package so you couldn't do a clean install

    Can't install game

Here's an interesting problem. Having just installed and updated Vista, I'd quite like to be able to install the game now, but the blasted thing won't autorun, and clicking setup.exe doesn't seem to help either. I've had this problem in XP before, but by clicking various things in the root folder of the disk always managed to get the thing to run. These tricks don't seem to work in Vista, so can someone suggest a solution? Hope so!!! ~S~ Jabo Never mind, got it sorted. Looks like I have a lot to learn about Vista.

LOL m8, but anyway, Vista seems to be working out OK at present. Getting an Experience Index of 5.2 and a PassMark of 806 so I'm pretty happy with that. Once I've got the game installed, I'll do a fps check on the Black Death track... ~S~ Jabo Oh, and Linksys have sorted the drivers for my WMP300N - no more trailing wires!
  12. You can do this m8, just find any post from Rico and click 'Salute' (just below where it says his name). ~S~ Jabo P.S. I'd like to add my own thanks to Rico for assisting me in getting started with developing some of my own skins for the planes here...

Well, just found the show-stopper I was worried about. Thanks to Bill and co. there's no support for Windows Live in XP64, which means I can't play some of the newer games which need it (GTA IV for example). So I'm either going back to the 32-bit version of XP or switching to Vista, not sure which yet. ~S~ Jabo
  14. I've tried the belkin one m8 and it works well, the fact that you have three in-game switchable modes on it means you can use it in the same way as the X52. ~S~ Jabo
  15. Wouldn't suggest it otherwise m8
  16. OK, just run the Black Death track on the PC to get a frame check - Low 29, Avg 52, Max 64. Don't know how that compares, but I'm pretty happy with that. ~S~ Jabo Here's a turn-up for the books...On Vista HP (32 bit) I get better framerates - Low 43, Avg 55, Max 67. Not huge gains I appreciate, but I guess because the numbers are closer together I'll be getting smoother gameplay? Of course it won't make a difference to the fact that I can't shoot worth a damn.
  17. Erm, how many hands do you have m8?
  18. You've still got time to do it tonight if you want. ~S~ Jabo Might be worth a block booking for 2010 - "Yes my good man, we'll book the entire hotel..."
  19. Don't worry, we'll sort it out. I told the staff at the Red Lion to expect a bunch of beer-swilling numpties who continuously mutter about 'prop pitch', 'mixture' and 'flap settings', to which they said, 'Yeah we know, you lot were here last year." Yet again the DDz make their mark! ~S~ Jabo

Indeed Roger, I had forgotten that the US and European versions use different chipsets, I can confirm however that the Broadcom drivers don't work either (I tried it immediately after switching to XP64). Personally, I see little difference between wired and wireless internet connectivity - my connection speeds are if anything slower when using the ethernet port on the router - guess it's not gigabit (sigh). I've spoken to (argued with) Linksys tech support this morning about their miserable lack of support for a) Vista and XP64 - Initially they wouldn't even admit there was a problem. They wouldn't give me any indication of a time-frame for a fix either.

Nope, sorry m8, this driver doesn't work. Just get the usual warning about the driver being incompatible with the hardware. No worries I'll carry on using the router with an ethernet cable. ~S~ and thanks Jabo
