  1. Ok chaps, Made the decision that now is the time to park XP, as much as I love it and move to Win 7 (I do have 4gb of ram sitting in my machine after all). My specs are as follows; Intel® Core™2 Duo E8600 (2 X 3.33GHz) 1333MHz FSB/6MB L2 Cache 4GB CORSAIR XMS2 800MHz - LIFETIME WARRANTY! (2x2GB) ASUS® P5N-D: DDR2, SATAII, 2 x PCI-e x16, 2 PCI, 2 x PCI-e x1 1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800GT PCI EXPRESS ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD) (Realtek) 600W Quiet Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan 500GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm) I was thinking of going for 64bit - How can I check if my memory / processor will work with 64 bit software? Anyone see any problems? I know that it is a complete new install from XP by the way.. Friar
  2. Bored...itching to fly but doing big backup

  3. Wow....the full README certainly contains some interesting stuff for mission builders. I would suggest you have a read. They seem to have incorporated quite a few of the UP3 features as standard now plus some interesting new ones.......
  4. I think I would agree with Jabo on not using it for co-ops. Each .mis file would have to be amended for it to work, so perhaps it could depend on who was flying and what the lowest common denominator was?
  5. Ok I have now got this sorted (thanks to Fruitbat for asking the question over at SAS). I spent some time this afternoon going through various settings until, bingo, it worked. Settings needed to be as follows In difficulty settings - External Views to Off (toggle switch to left) No Externals light illuminated. then at the end of the .mis file the following lines of code [Mods] ExternalViewLevel 0 ExternalViewGround 1 On the ground you can use externals but then once in the air, external views are disabled. I shall be adding it to the North Africa Map settings. Friar

  11. Many Happy Returns of the day goes out to Oldtimer who reaches the fine young age of 65! Cheers mate.......
  12. I think we should say that RC4 is the OFFICIAL current version and that we will NOT be applying any patches just yet. Anyone who wants to test it out should do so WITHOUT affecting the version they play on line with. All too often I think we have early adapters who's game has the new patches "but its ok I can turn them off" and then we get all the funnies. Lets take this one nice and slowly, the last patch gave us lot of headaches. Once it has been checked out we could have an "Upgrade Weekend" were experts are on hand to help and we all (well as many a possible) go at the same time. Any thoughts...? Cheers Friar
  13. Plenty of time to plot the allied advance
  14. What are the dates?
  15. Does anyone know, to save me doing loads of testing of AA units that DO NOT attack advancing ground units and stick to aircraft only. In my tests so far for the North Africa event, the 37mm AA will turn on ground units and rip it to shreds, which is not want I want. I am including the 88mm for the Germans because for them this was a deadly anti tank weapon. Jedipedia? Dino? Snacko? anyone............. Many thanks Cheers Friar

    Hello All

Hi Glenn, Great to see you active again. Charlotte growing up so giving you a little bit of free time ?...... I am in the middle of putting an event together for the Dogz, along the lines of what you did for Pedestal but with the MDS software. FoolTrotle has been doing some programming and is putting together a tool to help track the losses. If you can spare the time it would be great to have your input. Janet says hello by the way.. Regards Colin
  17. Sister jonathan is used as more of an advance party the sort of nun that can stick a lazer reflective dot on the forehead of col gadaffi without him knowing I am sorry that you felt let down by the priory I will have words with the sister in charge then perhaps a hot tub together followed by a massage that should put her straight do I need to mobilise the olsp to "assist" you?
  18. It has come to the Priory's attention that previously secret film has come into the public domain. I refer to the film somehow obtained by Bluebear (I suspect some dodgy deal was done round the back of “The Downed Pilot” whilst Brenda the Buxom Barmaid was not looking) which shows the O.L.E.P (Special Nun Service) in training, if you have not seen it I must advise you not to look here http://dangerdogz.com/forums/topic/9199-are-these-friars-nuns/ as this is now classified. As everyone is now aware, the O.L.E.P is a highly trained and honed group of Priory nuns who are assigned only the most dangerous and mission critical assignments. Their habits are Kevlar lined to protect them from any assailants weapons. They were recently called into action when the supply lines for the Priory Wine Cellars Spiritual offerings were threatened by some striking French farmers. (The word "striking" here should be taken to mean that the “good for nothing lazy scrag end of a smelly pig” farmers had withdrawn their labour, not that they are visually appealing, because that would be, well, a bit gay, not that I have anything against homosexuals, I just would not want my daughter to marry one. ) They were despatched to France to ensure our consignment got through the picket lines. There was a bit of a slight “altercation” when one of the farmers held up the Priory lorry, Sister Amanda climbed down from her position of riding shotgun and approached said slacker, whispered something into his ear, at which point he crossed himself, clasped his hands and knelt down before her, Sister Amanda placed her hand gently on his bowed head, thus positioning it at just the right level for her knee to be brought crashing up into his pointy Gallic nose. She of course crossed herself afterwards and asked the Abbot for forgiveness in doing the work of the Priory. The lorry was able to continue on its way with no further hindrance. One of the members of the group is Sister Jonathan, a 26 year old university graduate, left with a 2-2, that’s not qualifications; it is 2 wins 2 knockouts in the ancient university game of “Scrog-Brockerling”. This game first played in the back streets of Oxfordbridgeshire around 1800, 6pm being the optimum time for finding a “Scrog”, one of the key components of “Scrog-Brockerling”, came to the Priory looking for help as he felt he had lost his way, we very nearly lost him as the Sister that opened the door to him gave him directions and went to send him away as we were in the middle of some relaxation treatment training session and did not want to be disturbed, is a key member of the “re-alignment” team. This team is sent out on specialist duties to visit those members and associated members of the Priory to “assist” them in getting back on the straight and narrow in following the ways of the Priory and its love of all things IL2. It appears that his appointment diary is going to be quite full over the coming months what with people straying into other past-times...
  19. Trib, My offer of sister johnathan was intended as help to supress the locals. He has a certain way of "interfacing" with people he encounters. This all goes back to his mis- spent youth but as I am entering this on my iPhone, more about that for another time.
  20. I can assure you all that none of my nuns are transvestites as I do check on regular training nights except sister johnathan i leave him to continue with his correspondence course on his own......
  21. I watched it on Monday evening. A nice little film with some touching stories from pilots, ATC and ground crew. I want to make a documentary about the spitfire so I can fly in one too......
  22. Great stuff guys but could we move this to "The World according to Bongar" our ready made "funny zone" Friar It is done! -BluBear
  23. You guys have it all wrong...sheep or more correctly S.H.E.E.P stands for a proceedure, it is Sufficient Height and Elevation Escape Proceedure. Check out the explanation on the front page of the web site.
