  1. The famous cannon (taken on the side of the bridge the Brits landed). A Brit soldier manned the cannon and I guess when wild with it...blasting everything. Bust of Major Howard and a marking stone where the first glider landed. The pilot of that glider is still alive and now lives on Vancouver Island. This pic was taken by the cannon...shows you just how amazingly close they landed that glider. This shows where glider number 3 landed (you can see it at the point of Sid's head. Just past that is where Glider 2 landed...look just to the right of Howard's bust...at Sid's eye level and you just might make out the 3rd marker) The glider landing 'sled/ski' from Howard's actual glider. In the Pegasus museum. Pegasus Bridge sign erected by the Brits a short while after the battle (month maybe?) Jabo actual bullet scarrings on the bridge from the fight
  2. Us at the famous restaurant with the original owners daughter. Very gracious lady. this, to give perspective, is taken from the foot of the bridge...looking towards the restaurant
  3. Thanks Lobster. Love your avatar by the way.
  4. Great pics Jabo...especially of the Balbo and Sally B
  5. Yeah Fireman! Great to have you back.
  6. different Blenheim/Bollingbroke Roger...aka B16Enk...our congenial web host...and one of the older Dogz. In both age and seniority. Mustang heaven... old friend of mine flew with this squad...for those Canucks out there: Gwyn Morgan, who was the founder of Encana Corp, is an honourary Colonel with this squad. Painless with some cadet that he thoroughly creeped out when he hugged her for the photo Me: "hey Sid, what type of Migs are those?" Sid, in his dryest tone: "those are Yaks" I16. Never seen one before Sexy Beast: (no, not you Painless) will post more...

  12. on the bollingbrook, the curator, Chris, was telling us how they noticed this box on the floor attached to a pipe/tube exiting the craft that they had never seen before. they thought at first it was for dropping flares, but came to the conclusion it was for releasing courier pigeons.
  13. this is where my camera started dying. sorry for the lousy quality of the shot. This is from the actual Skunks Works shop from the states. Given to the curator personally by the famous Kelly Johnson.
  14. at the IMW at Waterloo... From the Reichstag itself I think... A fine group of Dogz. on the way to getting drunk. You can always tell a Dogz glass at a bar...it's the empty one. You can tell this is photoshopped. Painless never brushes his teeth. From the ARC private tour bad photo taken inside of Painless' spit Spit 1 rebuilding. Notice the handle on the right...this is for manual gear lowering/raising. Not so nice app on the Mk 1. Wing getting rebuilt for the Mk 1. Four techs working full time for 3 years for just two wings. At the IWM museum at Duxford (where the curator clearly stated they are in the business of 'preservation, not restoration'. They view restoration akin to blasphemy in their world: "looks like 3 spits to me!" Spanish He111. They are trying to get rid of it...even for free. A Bollingbrook. this is where my camera started dying. sorry for the lousy quality of the shot. This is from the actual Skunks Works shop from the states. Given to the curator personally by the famous Kelly Johnson. FT explaining something. Sid hoping FT goes into silent mode.
