No complaints about lack of action this time ! We came across 3 x Ju52 initially and dispatched them. We had heard calls for assistance from 410th which had been answered by 402nd. We managed to shoot down a FW190 A8 in our patrol area quickly followed by a call from 402nd onto a fight with 109 G14s way above us. These boys were determined to put up a fight and managed to “head on” kill 2ndLt Stella Artois from long range. Major Payne-Less was also damaged and broke off heading for Aachen airfield pursued by a nasty Nazi with a flea up his arse. Thankfully after scoring a few more hits on Maj PL aircraft he was forced to break off by Flt O John Johnson and Capt Fenton Rea. At the insistance of Major PL this particular 109 was destroyed as many times as possible ! Safe recovery was made at Aachen. Capt Rea and Flt O Johnson returned to home base. (Grateful for the assistance chaps !) We anticipate a swift replacement for Stella, she was very popular and leaves big court shoes to fill. Edit: we also managed to destroy a few ground targets, but in all the excitement I had clean forgotten, talk about immersion! OUT..
