777's latest blog post announced some changes coming to RoF:

System keys will be mapped in the future, so we can assign the Map key to the joystick, etc

Most of the game setting will be in-game rather than only in the launcher

Custom response curves will be loaded automatically when you load the plane into a mission. You no longer have to go to the control panel and select them.

The AI will be tweaked so we can hide in clouds, damaged AI and AI out of ammo will now run for home.

Damaged engines will leak oil into the faces of pilots and be wiped off, etc.

and the coolest of all (IMO) is the addition of SEARCHLIGHTS!!!!

Yes! Night missions will have searchlights.....I am really looking forward to that!

I cant wait for searchlights!  I'll be putting my handley page career on hold until this patch is released.  It just keeps getting better.

This is in fact great news and I can't wait to experience all of the new features. This sim is getting better and better all the time.

Wait a minute, did I forget to say '' God this game is amazing'' :)
