MadTrooper Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 HI Guys, It is my intention to submit this DangerDogz Squad Camel skin as my non historical skin. Here for your entertainment. Please let me know what you think and also give me your comments on it to see if I will change something before my submission to RoF. I know, there is a lot of pictures but I just love them all See my other post below. Thank you. MT Quote
T_O_A_D Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 I like it short one thing. Your black stripes on the wing need some opacity applied to them they are too new looking. Quote
Mayhem Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Really nice MT, TOAD is right you need to lower the opacity of that the added layers to about 65 % which is where I set the others. Also one of the dedications on the tail needs the opacity set as well as you can see some of the paint doesn't match up right. I'm hoping everyone sends their skins back to me when they are done with them so I can make sure they are all matching up right in brightness before we submit them. If you'd like I can clean them up a bit too if that's ok. Other then that I'm impressed, now my personal one looks kinda dull in comparison I'll have to liven it up a little or it will pale sitting next to yours at the airdrome. Only consideration is make sure none of the markers on your plane are copy written or the ROF people might take issue with it. Not sure they will but its best to heir on the side of caution. Quote
MadTrooper Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 HI Guys, I'm glad you like it. I agree about the opacity of the stripes. I had them set at about 60 % at one time and when I brought the Contrast and brightness way down I forgot to check them again. I'll do that and will make them look older. Overall I think that I got the brightness of the skinn ok cause nothing is too shiny. The make you take this picture ingame with settings HDR ON, BLOOM ON and at 12:00 hours and at cloud levels to put the skin in the most extreeme light effect and you have to adjust for it. I think I got it down. As for the legal stuff no worries nothing is but the DD logo . Mayhem, yes I think that you should collect (and thanks for doing this for us) all of our skins and submit them as one group. As you probably know you will have to change the files names so we can find them in an alphabetical order at the right place in game and all the DDz skins should be all at the same place and one after the another. I don't know may be all skins will have to have DD in front of the files names or something. I'll check the dedication too:) Thanks guys !! MT Quote
Mayhem Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Excellent MT, that looks great. You're gonna strike fear into the hearts of virtual pilots everywhere. Not to say that they won't still shoot you down, but they will do it in a very fear inspired way. HAHAHA just kiddin' looks awesome. I like the idea of putting a phrase across the engine cowling. I might have to rip that one off. Just noticed it seems like you reduced the scale of the DDz logo. That's up to you of coarse but it the intention was for those bits to be uniform as possible so when flying in formation there isn't any noticeable variation in the base squad suit. The marking and lettering was the only things I hoped wouldn't change so we could at least maintain a level of quality control, otherwise chaos will reign. Besides the original isn't THAT much larger though the size difference is noticeable. If you want it smaller I would have preferred to make them all smaller but this would mean more work now. I figured the original size was good as it proudly displays that we're Dogz without being too large. The other thing I am noticing is that it doesn't seem to be centered properly anymore with the lettering or the roundels as can be seen in that first screenshot of the last post you've made. Do me a favor when you're done and send me the .psd of your skin. I was figuring if they all ran back through me I could get them approved in bulk and maintain a certain level of constancy as was intended from the start. Quote

Hey Mayhem, I for myself, like the DD logo to be sized down a bit and I also took the liberty of weathering it down so it does'nt look new like every other markings I have on the AC. The DD logo is centered within that broun colored side panel area. I know we want uniformity but you got to leave a little room for creativity and personnality. Lets make a poll about it and see what others are saying. Thanks. Quote
PropNut Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I agree MT, I think the logo is a bit too large and bright as well. But I also agree with Mayhem that it should stay in that spot on all aircraft. Compromise perhaps? Quote
MadTrooper Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 I agree MT, I think the logo is a bit too large and bright as well. But I also agree with Mayhem that it should stay in that spot on all aircraft. Compromise perhaps? Thanks for your input Propnut. Yes I can go along with that no problem and I'll put it back where Mayhem had originally installed it but if its not too much trouble I'd like to keep its size (downsized a bit) the way I have it now if its alright with Mayhem and all you guys ? Comments ? Another thing, I will not submit any DD skins to the RoF community directly and will be going through Mayhem for this. Mayhem if you think it would be too much trouble to downsize the logo let me know. I can change it back to the original size, center it properly and weather it the way I like it. Thanks. Quote
Mayhem Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Well, though it may seem a bit bright, I had already lowered the opacity to about 60%, and it is behind several layers of detail and shadowing. I didn't want to go too dark on it as then it becomes hardly visible. I didn't think it was outside of the games brightness level and it certainly isn't reflecting like a lighthouse as can easily happen I've see when first experimenting with it. If you want the downsized logo, go ahead and leave it downsized but I feel kind of funny about trying to get squad skins bulk approved when the squad markings are not uniform. From other peoples perspective it may seem a bit amateurish, unprofessional and definitely unintended or construed as a mistake. It would have been better if it was brought up before this though it may have been and perhaps my oversight. I would hate to insist on the size uniformity but as it stands now it doesn't look like it was scaled proportionally and now appears to be a bit shorter and fatter then the original. Also while it may be centered on the panel it doesn't line up properly with the MT anymore. I wasn't trying to dictate what to do however I felt that the DD logo was proportionally correct with respect to the lettering, roundelays and now your skull and crossbones, unless you guys would have preferred I just leave it off altogether. The size difference we are talking here is pretty minimal anyways and don't really see what the slight size reduction does other then make the logo barely visible and hardly legible. It should be visible from a decent distance or at least 120m or so. Not trying to inhibit anyone creativity which is why these base skins are so simplistic as I wanted to leave lots of room for your personal stuff. If that was the case we could have all just gone it alone and made our own. I would prefer if we went with the original. Look, the SE5a is not going to accommodate as large of a logo anyway, and if you guys want me to dull it down a bit more on the next plane that's kool. You just have to see where I am coming from with this. I'll take it all into consideration on the next planes. Quote
MadTrooper Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 Mayhem, Not a problem like I said on TS tonight. I'll resize the DD logos to their original size and put them at their intended place. Thanks for your work on this M8. MT Quote
Mayhem Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Thanks to you for your dedication to ROF. As per your suggestion I am making the DD logo on the SE5a small and adding more weathering. Again, your skin looks great and I hope it serves you well. Quote
