PropNut Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Rittmeister Karl Krautenhoffer: Attention Pilots! Group Commander Generaloberst Norman Von Swartzkopf will address you now! Generaloberst Norman Von Swartzkopf: Pilots! The operation two days ago to destroy the Allied train yard was a failure! Reconnaissance flights have shown that of the six locomotives, all but two were destroyed. One was damaged but another, sitting on the tracks further back from the Toul station, was left completely undamaged! This means that the Allies have been able to bring enough armored vehicles to the front to commit to their offensive. Our troops are not yet prepared to withstand such an offensive! Because of the greatly increased presence of Allied aircraft in our area we are moving our planes back from the front. We will be based at the Metz-Frescaty aerodrome. Elements of the Luftstreitkräfte (airforce) are being pulled in from all parts of the front to bolster our defenses. Two flights will be sent out on Monday, one to clear the skies of Allied planes, the other to destroy the allied tanks before they can break through our lines! Ludendorf himself will be in our area during the air attack, personally supervising the defense of our infantry lines. Do not display further failure in the eyes of our commander! That is all!! (Von Swartzkopf leaves) Rittmeister Karl Krautenhoffer: Whew! Boy does he seem angry....but I have heard that he is fighting a serious case of syphilis contracted from a small english bulldog so his mood is understandable. All in all, the raid on Toul actually went quiet well. The DFWs, piloted by Leutnants Sparky and Phist, put their bombs right on the targets, destroying not only three locomotives at the Toul marshalling yards but also over driesig rail cars full of war materials. Well done. It is understandable why the DFWs could not stay in the area longer and find that other train, there were three squadrons of Allied planes in the area and our defensive fighters had already been pulled off the bombers when an additional squadron of Sopwith Dolphins attacked the flight on the way to the target. Leutnants Propnut and Mayhem were shot down (not before Mayhem was able to destroy three of his advesaries in a heroic struggle for the Vaterland!), with the fourth Dolphin falling to Leutnant CapJack's guns. In a fight as heroic as that of Leutnant Mayhem's battle, Oberleutnant MadTrooper held off two full squadrons of Allied planes, Neiuport 28's and Spad XIII's, allowing the DFW's to rain destruction onto the train yard. Unfortunetly Oberleutnant MadTrooper was shot down and had to make his way back to our lines on foot, deftly avoiding enemy patrols. Leutnant CapJack escorted our bombers back to base but in a action of major daring, Leutnant Phist landed his DFW in a field to pick up Leuntnat Mayhem before the Allies could capture him! Well done Leutnant Phist! Both pilots returned safely to the aerodrome. Before returning to our lines, the group found an allied train returning to Toul and after Leutants PHist and CapJack put many holes in the locomotive, Leutnant Sparky placed both of his last two bombs squarely on the locomotive completely destroying the train and severly damaging the rails. The close formation that returned over our lines was an inspiration to our men in the trenches. Unfortunatly Leutnant Sparky's engine malfunctioned just short of the aerodrome but he safely put the plane down and it was retrieved by the mechanics and will fly again. The stress of the couragous actions commited by Leutnant Phist caught up to him and he unfortunatly flipped his plane over on landing killing his gunner...private Beirgetter will be missed. Well done komrades! The Schnapps is on me! Quote
MadTrooper Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Good Job on that AAR Propnut. It makes me want to fly that mission again. Excellent mission by the way. I had a great time. I might add, God I love this game, lol. MT Quote
