Kimosabi Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 It even has some old interviews of German and Allied Aces. Galland and Hartmann included. Take a look! 6 parts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB4w4tP7uzs Quote
SkyPup Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Nice find, Kimo. One confusing thing, the film shows 109s used for the Spanish Civil War. I think C models were used in Spain, but F or Gs are depicted here? Quote
Kimosabi Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 Not sure if I follow. What I got out of it was that Spain was used as a test platform for the 109 up until E models(E's only at the final stage of the war). In other words, B and C models were indeed used in Spain. Quote
SkyPup Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I probably just mis-understood the narration. I've watched the first two vids in this series and will try to get to them all eventually. Fascinating stuff. Quote
Sweper Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Nice find Kimo. It would have been nice to see the other three competitors (Arado, FW and Heinkel) models that were rejected. When the narrator talkes about spain, he doesnt mention which model they used, but in the film it looks like they showed the F-model which is confusing indeed. Now I´m gonna watch the other 5 parts. Kimosabi Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Yeah, I watched it again and it seems to me they have used some footage a bit "off piste" or so to speak lol. TV documentaries are not all kosher all the time IMO, so take some of it with a grain of salt. I digged it for the footage and seeing legendary Aces in old interviews. Especially Hartmann, which I have never seen in an interview before. Quote
SkyPup Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Just finished Part 3. Watching these films is like eating potato chips: I can't stop. Quote
BadAim Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Good find! I'll be at it right away. As for the out of date films, it's ridiculously common in documentaries, I catch it all the time. You've got to remember that a lot if not most of the crew involved in making these things know little or nothing about the subject, so it's easy for these mistakes to get through. (at least if I'm not running the project, those people would not want to work for me) Quote
