Crash
Due to the G940 FFB dying, I wondered if I could get the X52 to shake as stall is approached. So I borrowed my sons Saitek rumble pad and attached it to the handle of the X52 stick to see if it worked It did work so I stripped the pad down and removed the rumble unit I then cut up the Saitek rudder pedal extension feet as I couldnt find a small container to house the rumble unit I cut the rumble pad housing that held the unit and extended the thin wires using some old speaker cable This was tricky and I didnt get the joypad board to feed the rumble unit at first attempt I then had to find a housing for the joypad. Luckily it fitted an electrical double socked mounting after elongating a couple of holes in the circuit board of the joypad After a couple of attempts I managed to drill holes in the right place on the blanking plate to allow the use of the 2 mini sticks and 10 buttons After securing the wire to the joystick handle I tested it and it worked fine. Total cost was £8 and now I have18 more buttons (using the SST software) and the stick judders if I leave the u/c down or approach a stall

Cold_Gambler
now that's one hell of a mod there!! great job That is EXCELLENT! What an awesome way to make a x-52 have FFB! Great finish on the button box too. I bought a Logitech rumble pad at the local thrift store for additional buttons, I was also hoping that the FFB would work and would, mounted on the chassis of my chair provide further immersion. Unfortunately IL2 only provides FFB output to one device (in my case a MSFFB2), so I simply created a cradle for the rumblepad and mounted it on my desk... doesn't look anywhere near as nice as yours. What functions , if any, are you using the "thumb" axes for? Great job Crash, and thanks for sharing the progress pictures. C_G

Kimosabi
Good stuff, Crash. Good stuff. Thanks to you I'm now just waiting for my FFB to blow up as well.
Crash
What functions , if any, are you using the "thumb" axes for? C_G I am using the 4 buttons in the corner (which was a hat switch) for Sans FoV changer. 1 joystick mapped to give 4 buttons for lights and smoke. Only 1 button of the six at the top is allocated at the moment and thats for padlock enemy ground

Madfish
Ugh, finally I found the thread again. I came across it a couple of days ago and thought: neat idea, you should try to do the same. But of course, I lost it. Searching for it again however was a mess so I'll drop some keywords now. ;P Force Feedback, Gamepad, Modification, Mod, Joystick, FF, ForceFeedback Now that that's done I must admit I can't even get my force feedback gamepads to work with IL-2. I have a couple. A logitech, a Saitek no-name editition (called Impact) and a MS-Tech SF-15 or something like that. But none of them, even after installing the drivers, gives me any force feedback whatsoever. I could fly the Airplane with the pad but it didn't rumble on stall or gear out. Did it work for you just out of the box or is a special trick necessary?

I find it helps to know when it is close to stalling. And it shakes a bit if the wheels and flaps ore out See you for practice Sunday PM

Madfish
Actually no! I don't have forcefeedback=1 in my conf.ini or settings although I set the little switch ingame to on (and it keeps glowing even after I start the game again). Could you eventually pm me a copy of your conf.ini crash? Maybe there is something wrong with it - I'd like to compare them if possible. Cold_Gambler
Hey Mates! I'm still roaming the Boards once in a blue moon. I'm getting a 2nd hand TM Warthog from a SimHQ member for me B-day. I'm really looking forward to it, but I was thinking I'd miss the force feedback of my trusty MSFFB... then I remembered this mod and as I still have the Logitech rumblepad I think I'll be taking a page from your book Crash Hope you're all well. Only 3 more years until I can fly online with you guys again

OverDhill
Is there any way to increase the rumble or force feedback in IL-2 1946?
Crash
As far as I know the only alterations can be done with Fededit.
OverDhill
I was thinking of doing this to get some feedback and even ordered a rumble pad off Ebay but while I was waiting I finally managed to get my Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP Wheel to work under Windows 7 64x by using a specific driver (persistence pays off). As a result I also got a fringe benefit for IL2 as it serves as my 'rumble' for IL-2 and CLOD. When I am not using it for racing sims the wheel sits off to the side and is clamped down to a shelf I made on my pit. When the force feedback is present it will shake the entire stand. So now I get the effects.
