Lothar Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Great link Jedi! So bad my internet is too slow, I have to wait approx. half an hour for one video to load, but now I saw the first one it's truly worth the wait! Will see the rest tonight Quote
Kimosabi Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Alot of excellent footage there, thanks Jedi. I just keep wondering how many flares they've got though. On that final bombing mission it looked like they had the flare-button taped down.... Quote

I think they train pilots to keep pressing that flare button on low level stuff, MANPADs scare the heck out of most pilots. Quote

The ECM settings of modern jets can be set to automatic on an attack run, making the pilot's workload much less hectic on the run. It'll release flares and chaff, depending on the need, or according to a preset program. There are ecm suites out there that will even custom cut the chaff to different lengths according to the wavelength of the emitters detected to maximize their effectiveness. See this article: towed radar decoys too! What will they think of next? http://typhoon.starstreak.net/Eurofighter/defences.html Quote

The newer generations of Sidewinder, ASRAAM and the IRIS-T have not been proven in action yet. New toys all around. Quote
