DD_Arthur
I run Windows XP home edition. I am generally very happy with it. However, the disc I have shipped with 'MadeSafe anti-virus' which I never use and don't want. It sits in the toolbar doing nothing, except at @11p.m gmt every night it decides to launch a little yellow box asking me if I know my activation password (or something similar). When it does this the game minimises and I'm left swearing at the screen as we're always in the middle of a coop! > Any ideas on how I can get rid of this thing? It does not show up in programme files or if I open 'add/remove programmes'. Really, really would like to be rid of the damned thing! T_O_A_D
Start/Run/msconfig/Sartup Then look for it in the list, if its there uncheck it. Start/Run/msconfig/Services if its there uncheck it. Click appy Close Restart Once the machine reboots it will have a popup window Check Don't show this message Then hopefully it won't run anymore. If it does you, you can go into control panel and Admin services, and tell it to run manual or off, instead of auto.
Perfesser
You do want to be careful what you shut down via msconfig. Do not use "msconfig" to disable services, type "services.msc" in the Run box instead. http://www.blackviper.com/AskBV/Win7_01.htm You should be able to schedule it to scan at another time at least. You might try Safe Mode and search/delete any files or registry entries with that program. Look here if all else fails http://www.blackviper.com/
