  1. is it as simple as copying them over to my external hard drive from my C drive...then moving them copying them back once I'm done?
    Yes, basically, it is.

You do not need to install IL2 on a fresh system, a backup-copy restored to a freshly format-windows-install will do fine.

(Some IL2 utilities may need registry keys, but those registry keys can easily be recreated if need be.)

  2. JP, you can use a trick in Users\Doe\Settings.ini for that.

Assign brakes to one pedal, then open up said file (Make sure you pick the correct subfolder under 'users', ie. the one belonging to your default pil2ot)

    Look for:

    AXE_RZ JoystickDevice2=rudder

    AXE_X JoystickDevice2=brakes

Where the Device2 can differ, ie. could be Device0 or Device1 or Device3

    then add a line:

    AXE_Y JoystickDevice2=brakes

where you use the same Devicex designation as in the original.

You also may need to swap X and Y values, depending on what your current settings are...

Please note that pressing left or right brake pedal will still just activate brakes, the differential part still only comes from moving the rudder pedals!

Also, after editing, either set the 'Read Only' attribute on the Settings.ini file, or never ever enter and leave the in game Controls screen no more, cause doing so will have that extra line you added removed...

Alternatively, in CH software, you should be able to combine both pedals to one axis, I think... I hope... Maybe...

  3. I currently use

    0 25 35 45 57 64 71 78 86 93 95 10

ae I found all 100s very sensitive but a lot of folk recommend this as the most accurate

Nice one, your settings reflect mine, including the drop down to 10 at the end. (...)

Sid, there's no 'drop down to 10' in sensitivity at the end, that's the value for 'Filtering'.

The first value on the line is for 'Deadband'. The value second is the first sensitivity setting.

  4. Got a TIR3Pro over here. With vector expansion.

    But, I only use 2DOF...

The 3Pro does a good job with 2DOF, if you are going to run a 6DOF mod, then a later version might be better...

Also note that for TrackIR, placement and setup/tuning are very important to have it run without issues...

  5. Just a week ago I had to fix a Dell, reporting a file loading error c:\windows\system32\....dll

A test from BIOS suggested to replace the harddisk... but, as there had been some other strange happenings.... I replaced one of the memory modules and all was suddenly running perfectly fine again...

  6. Installed it ( UP 1.8 ) yesterday, and Crash is right, it unpacks into a temporary folder (takes quite a while) next it starts the installer, where you point it to your IL2 folder (containing a fully operational 4.09m final!), select whether you want Client or Server (ie. Dedicated Server) and press Install. Then wait... again takes quite a while...

    After that, it runs fine.

Well, Over here it does anyways...
