Recently Returned After A Long... Too Long Time Away

Yeah, well... the QuickMission builder stuff kinda fits in this part that I wrote earlier: "(It may lack in some skins, speech files or mission files. If you also want to do offline campaigns and do not want to miss any content, then you'll have to take a different route... I have tried it, starting with 1946 4.07m, then ran ChkMods, it works)" as in... I decided not to put it in ChkMods, just to limit the load a bit. However, I have created a zip file, attached it here, with a number of files that you must place in the Missions\Quick folder of the game. Once the contents are in there, you can select a map in the QMB screen, somewhere in the lower right part... Quick.zip (I will try and have them added to ChkMods...) -

The succesfull running of ChkMods does depend a lot on what your Internet connection to the dd's server is like. Its progress of 0.2% may not say much, as initially it will probably download some large files, which will take a long time (staying at 0.2%), it may even time out... But, it will add the missed file to the download list, at the end of it.... it will get it in the end... Just keep it running like that, in the end.... (You could also download each and every patch needed, and the HSFX stuff separately...that might be faster in the end, but it takes so many different steps, so many ways where it can go wrong... indeed, just let it do its thing...) -

Correct Fritz, go with its assumption: HSFX701. (I have not put in all the effort to have it being capable of recognizing each and every version that was out...) Press the Verify Mods button, let it check... once ready, hit the 'Fix Issues' button... Rinse and repeat until no more issues found... -

Of All Places To See Il-2 Being Talked About
FoolTrottel replied to OverDhill's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946
It is certainly up to you guys to decide about membership. No reason he can't check your website out as that is all I intended. I now remember that Jim was content with ChkMods by not only what it did for the members of our group, but also to potentially use it as advertising material... -
Not sure what you are looking for... In the FMB, there's Regiment, call that top level, which will - I think - determine the first two characters of the four character codes on Bombers and Zerstoerers.... The third character is determined by both squadron and plane number within the flight. The fourth is derived from flight number. Not sure if that is what you need though... Like: Reg Squadron Flight Plane ID I./ZG 52 1 1 1 A2 + AH I./ZG 52 1 1 2 A2 + BH I./ZG 52 1 1 3 A2 + CH I./ZG 52 1 1 4 A2 + DH I./ZG 52 1 2 1 A2 + EH I./ZG 52 1 2 2 A2 + FH I./ZG 52 1 2 3 A2 + GH I./ZG 52 1 2 4 A2 + EH I./ZG 52 2 1 1 A2 + AK I./ZG 52 2 1 2 A2 + BK I./ZG 52 2 1 3 A2 + CK I./ZG 52 2 1 4 A2 + DK I./ZG 52 2 2 1 A2 + EK I./ZG 52 2 2 2 A2 + FK I./ZG 52 2 2 3 A2 + GK I./ZG 52 2 2 4 A2 + EK Does that help? Staffel is equivalent to Squadron me thinks? link

Good show! -
It does make some noise, but no, it rumbles/shakes more than it makes noise. It is designed to be bolted to furniture... Basically, it is of the same construction of a normal speaker, but instead of it moving a piece of thin cloth/speaker-paper, it moves a big chunk of metal, and that movement creates the shakes...
-
Using one of these, bolted to a wooden chair (a homebuilt one). The thing is connected to the bass output of a 5.1 speaker set, via a dedicated 100W amplifier ... works fine. Feels good, adds something to the immersion. (Won't work for sure when I am using headphones for main sound, for sure...) It rumbles on the low game sounds, so yes, on the guns, on the engines ... on big explosions... (Sorry for the big image, couldn't find any smaller one... the real thing is about 14cm across...) The only issues I've had was in the overheat department, if used too long, too loud, some woodburn can be smelt, and basically, a heated seat... next, the thing itself burnt out... no flames, just technically I mean. (I have one spare left, for sure!)

Hi Fritzl, To get your IL2 1946 up to the latest version, the way OverDhill suggested will work. As in: It will result in an IL2 1946 installation with which you can play online with the DD's. So, 4.12.2m, including the latest HSFX7.01 (It may lack in some skins, speech files or mission files. If you also want to do offline campaigns and do not want to miss any content, then you'll have to take a different route... I have tried it, starting with 1946 4.07m, then ran ChkMods, it works) First, backup either the entire 1946 folder, or at least Conf.ini and the Users folder. Then, follow the instructions in the thread OverDHill mentioned. It will need to download a lot of files, in total some 7 to 8GB of data, how that will work out will depend on the speed and quality of your internet connection... (As the amount of data is large, as well as the amount of files, it will probably not make it in one go. Simply restart ChkMods, and let it Verify and fix repeatedly... until it states no errors found) Good Luck! -
Hello there! Looking forward to see you back in the virtual skies Odh! Happy new year to you too!
-
Looks good! Whether it is really good in the end? Well, might depend on the price you paid... then again, how much is too much for three spitfires in one battered box? (Come to think of it, I have built many a model ... but never Tante Ju... thinking back to them days, I do vividly remember this: Zwei Himmliche Toechter, a German comdey TV series, 1978... and Landing the Ju52, from the same series...Very different from the role they were used in back in the 40's... that's for sure) All in all, a very special bird this!

Similar things are happening over here, only large shops/companies can afford shops along the bigger streets ... Luckily, there are still people confident and brave enough to start some silly funny shop in one of those smaller streets... if they do good, they usually move to a bigger shop in a bigger street (still in city centre though)... and else... they just disappear, then some other brave soul takes the jump... we've seen a shop dedicated to soap! Yes, soap! You could go in there, but had to ruin out quickly... a shop full of sented soap! And it did not last long... For years and years we've have a shop here dedicated to finger caps (!). There's still one for ink stamps... and a lot of book shops, with old books mostly... Yeah, you gotta lockup your bike around here, come to think of it, you need to lock up anything you leave out on the streets ... lol

It's a picture of an old church in my hometown. The lighting was so beautiful around 15:30 yesterday, that I just couldn't resist... Here's a link to a website that lets you look inside, if you go outside there (door to the right) looks like you end up in a Google's streetview like environment outside.... No blurred faces there though, I am gonna look and see if I can find myself strolling around there
