  1. He ain't squeelin' yit!🐷
  2. Well, shit, now you've gone and done it, my piggy bank is in the fetal position.
  3. I swear, if they keep going at this rate, my wallet is going to be reeling. I have to admit the earlier days of DCS had me wondering just what the hell they were thinking sometimes, I wasn't very confident they'd see it through even to the current state. Anticipating more progress, can't wait. Now if they could just get a Pacific Theater complete with carriers, Hellcats, Corsairs and Zeros, I'll have died and gone to heaven. It's wait and see but either IL-2 BOX, DCS or both are going to blow it out of the water with a Pacific theater, it'll be interesting to see to who's first.
  4. I feel spoiled now, there have been so many great developments in combat flight simming the last year or so. I'm thinking about getting the normandy map, WW2 asset pack, combined arms and at least one WW2 fighter but can't decide betwix the Mustang and Spit. That reminds me, have you guys seen the latest asset pack update DCS snuck in just now? Those boats and subs, OMG! The level of detail they're putting into these models is absolutely astounding.
  5. Rgr that Kev, look forward to getting back in a saddle with you lot sometime in the near future.
  6. My apologies if this has been posted previously, just wondering what you all thought of the announced upcoming additions/improvements to DCS. I know someone's got to be stoked for the Mosquito. I also found a video I thought some of you might enjoy if you haven't already seen it. It's a short watch but definitely worth it. Bit of a tear jerker at the end though I must admit. If you missed the update news here's a link. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/newsletters/newsletter03012020-851b43a35367471cdaea724efa55d2a4.html And the vid.
  7. I'd not heard of this sim before, but apparently it's predecessor 'Wings over Flander Fields' has a following. It's said that the AI is the best out there and it has a truly dynamic campaign. Single player only I believe but for the price I'm considering checking it out. The WW1 offering looks pretty good too, albeit both being a bit dated looking but still an improvement over IL-2 46 graphics. I've got some Battle of Britain itch. Anyone have any experience with either of these titles? EDIT:Sorry for the double post, I was editing so I don't know exactly why it double posted. http://www.overflandersfields.com/store.html

  9. Delta thanks for the heads up, I was unaware the Dogz had switched. Now Bodenplatte, it's pricey but looks really good and the plane set is a must have for me. It sounds like Battle of Midway is on hold for now, that's a disappointment for sure. 1946 was, and will forever be is a true masterpiece most likely never to be topped. The shear amount of content in 46, though it took several expansions and years of community work, is mind boggling. Seeing 46 on sale recently for $1.50 USD made me feel a bit strange, like witnessing the passing of an era. Bodenplatte it is then, onward and upward. Ah, I see they're having a sale right now, up to 75% off Great Battle products. I might be cracking my wallet open tonight. Besides Bodenplatte which module/campaigns can you guys suggest to go along with it.
  10. Awesome, thanks Todd, been too long, how are you? What kind of plan do you have with that 5G (Price/speed/data caps)?
  11. Right Tom thanks. I know you're a busy man but if you can spare a moment perhaps you can fill me on a a couple of details. Are the cockpits clickable, how are the flight/damage models and what's this I'm reading about 'unlocks' of certain upgrades/weapons? Thanks, and by the way, I'm keeping hope alive, the Governor of my state just passed legislation for moneys to connect the more rural areas with high speed landline. We'll see how that pans out but I may move this coming spring, I'd really love to be flying some DCS/IL-2 with you but my satellite connection isn't good for gaming with a ping of around 600ms. And on a side note, have you tried the latest version of BMS Falcon, 4.34, it's amazing and something I believe you'd appreciate. The AI and dynamic campaign really blow DCS away in that regard. It's free but will require a legal copy of Micro Prose Falcon 4, the collection can be had on Good Old Games for 10 USD. Definitely check it out if you get the chance. This video doesn't really do it justice I was testing out the new version yesterday and it's bad ass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcMOOOulhME
  12. Hello Gents, if only I could. Don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm considering getting Bodenplatte while it's still in early access, how's the AI for single player and what's your overall impression of the title?
  13. Hi all. Have a question and I'm sure you all are the best to ask. In IL-2 1946, anyone know if perfect water still only works on Nvidia cards or can you achieve it on newer AMD cards now?

Awesome, you just get it? Gas guzzler tax or what?
  15. Thanks guys, miss you all.
  16. Hey all, been a while. I'd be around to fly with you guys but having moved to a more rural area (which has it's benefits believe me) my internet access is now limited to satellite. Hopefully, that will change soon but until then please keep my ping woes (600 to 800 milliseconds) in your thoughts and prayers. I've been checking out the lasted advancements in DCS and it's really got me itching to partake in some co-op/dogfight action. With the latest additions to the DCS universe it's really starting to shine and looks absolutely stunning. My work hours suck right now as well which just adds to my lack of social time. Still around though, still a dog, still love to fly, just life and circumstances right now are not cooperating. Yeah, it's a bitch, but it's one I chose. In the long run it'll all work out and I'll be back in action, much to the dismay of some no doubt.?
  17. "1) 32-bit Program Support - we have to acknowledge the possibility that at some point in the future, windows support for 32-bit programs will disappear - this means no more Il-2:1946! There are of course ways around these things but this is an important aspect that must be recognized." A bit late to the party but with virtual machine technology I don't really see this being that big of an issue especially as PC's get more and more powerful running IL-2 1946 through virtual machine the background should run fine. I've personally run IL-2 using the WINE 'emulator' in Ubuntu Linux and it worked fine save for the anti aliasing which was an issue with WINE itself and possibly fixed by now. Having spent extensive time playing games through DOSbox and Virtualbox if you set things up properly you can click a shortcut and start the game/sim as simple as that. It's also possible I believe to condense everything (Emulator/Game/Sim) into one executable, or package at least, that folks could download to alleviate the work of setting it all up from scratch. As to which operating system to run a virtual machine of, I'm thinking XP might be better but Window 7 runs IL-2 perfectly too. As for dwindling participation, I'm not sure what to do about that. I'd be flying with you all but I've been extremely busy for the last few years.
  18. Yeah, look it up if you get the chance. It's supposed to make for a much smoother gaming/sim experience.
  19. Nor have I Jabo. The reason I ask is I'm thinking of getting a new monitor/graphics card with adaptive sync capability. AMD is using a open Freesync technology while Nvidia has gone with a proprietary G-sync they created. Both essentially accomplish the same goal of adjusting monitor refresh rate on the fly but the monitor has to have the respective module to work with the respective syncing tech. Nvidia G-sync monitors cost about a 300+ more USD for essentially the same thing and it kind of torques me off that Nvidia chose to go the proprietary route. I can get an ultrawide 34' LG curved with Freesync right now for about 530 USD while the same thing in Gsync is 900 bucks. I'd have no problem making my next graphics card an AMD but I'd hate to loose perfect mode in IL-2. Sounds silly I know, 1st world problems LOL.
  20. Does anyone know if perfect mode is still unavailable on AMD GPUs? Just wondering if perhaps the limitation changed after all these years of IL-2 updates, modern graphics cards and drivers?
  21. Free HD movie rental from Microsoft. Nice visuals, I figured some of you guys might enjoy watching it. https://slickdeals.net/f/10169096-stalingrad-2013-hd-rental-free-at-microsoft-store

I given enough stick time I bet Tom could fly that thing better than the pilot. Matter of fact, I guarantee it.
