  2. This wasn't Theoretical for my Dad. He was a B-17 pilot during the war, and the second time he was shot down was in February of 1945, coming back from a bombing raid on Lienz Austria.
  3. 14 of 14 That’s the end of my tour.
  4. 13 of 14 Like the German cemetery, the remains of these men have been cremated.
  5. 12 of 14 Finally I drove over to the Italian cemetery.
  6. 11 of 14 Next I drove over to the German cemetery.
  7. 10 of 14 The British chose to bury their men as they were found on the battle field, together with their Mates. As you walk around, you find where these men fought to the last together.
  8. 9 of 14 After leaving the museum I went to the British war cemetery.

  13. 4 of 14 Moving outside, there is a small display of vehicles and artillery. Unlike the inside of the museum, there was no display of equipment used by the mighty Egyptian Army. But unlike the inside, there was a good size display of equipment used by the United Kingdom.

  15. 2 of 14 Next was a small Italian display.
  16. 1 of 14 El Alamein I was going to try and make it up to El Alamein for the 66th Anniversary.
  17. I'm fairly sure I can make London and Duxford.
  18. ~S~ Painless So you will be leaving Duxford Sunday night and then heading for France on Monday from your home in Portsmouth.
  19. Let me see if I'm following this correctly. We start off in London, staying near BG at the Days Inn (Kennington Road) for 90 UK Pounds per night, plus all these quaint London 'fees'.
  20. What in the world is a congestion charge?
  21. Between BG and the post about going to Normandy, I'm becoming interested in trying to make this trip. So let me ask some questions.
  22. I really hadn't thought about going to Duxford, but between this opportunity and a suggestion from BG, I'm now becoming interested. Is there going to be a common hotel/meeting place in London prior to Duxford?
  23. Well played Oldtimer, well played. It's simple things in life like that, which make it all worthwhile.
