@Rox; yeah, she caught the rear light bracket of the lorry. Nice lorry driver calmed her down, pointed out no damage to his vehicle and put the door skin in the boot for her and kicked the door back into place so she could drive it home. @Rog; it's got a broken electric mirror, a scrape starting in front wing, along front passenger door and on into rear quarter panel which is also slightly deformed. Looks like hinge-pillar damage too when the door skin got ripped off. Also central locking and interior lights no working which means the windows won't work (haven't tried 'em) which means the bloody control box under the front seats has gone u/s again. I think we're talking over a grands worth of parts and labour (ex vat) and I think the cars book value is probably in the £1400 region. If that. It's a gonna.

Yeah, yeah. Heard that sort of stuff so often before. I live about 8 miles from a WW2 airfield where rumour has it hundreds of jeeps and Harley's were buried after the end of lend-lease. No ones ever found any of this "buried" stuff in the UK, mainly 'cause it don't exist. Why would you bother to bury an aeroplane? It's a fragile thing made of light-weight materials. Simply drive a truck through it and cart the debris off to the smelter. Simples.

Frankly Rog, no. Not by a long way yet. If you check out some of the multiplayer threads over at the 1C forum you'll see multiplayer is still a wrestling match at the moment and the most populated servers such as ATAG and Repka represent a hell of a lot of work by a few dedicated individuals. Perhaps in two patches time. It's getting there but there's still a hell of a lot of work needed. Spent half an hour recently chasing "phantom" bomber formations which disappear upon approach and then reappear behind you. Still the odd CTD's too. If the guys want to get in the air then I'd recommend the ATAG server at the moment. It can be great fun but it's still a work in progress.

Yes, the new beta patch with it's hotfix has recovered the game performance which was lost with the previous beta. I'm back up to 30-50fps again on my modest system and it's smoother than ever so well pleased. They seem to have toned down the haze and turned up the contrast again. The landscape does look better but I think the rather beautiful sunsets have been lost along with a bit of 'atmosphere.' The sea is still much poorer than before. I'd like BongoDrivers opinion on that since he spends a lot of time flying over it. The cockpits seem to have been sharpened up too. Online is very good again, nice and smooth, still the occasional CTD but things like dot recognition/sighting distance seem to have been improved no end. I've stopped using the SASO option too, don't seem to need it now. Anti-aliasing is still up the creek but for me this is a minor aspect as the overall graphic quality more than makes up for this. If I've read the lead dev's posts correctly over on the Banana forums then anti-aliasing is still a ways off. I now hope they can settle down and sort out all the other stuff like the A.I. behaviour, the horrible GUI, give us some sort of an understandable coop mode, give us command over A.I. wingmen, the option to disable ground shadows, tweak flight models, proper loadouts, etc, etc........................................................................................ However, if anyone wants to arrange an outing on one of the public servers like ATAG which hosts the channel map then I'm right up for it Perhaps we can hit 'em with the Dogzford Wing!!

Hello Flyboy, welcome here. Here's my (un)reliable opinion. As others have said, do you really need a dedicated soundcard these days? I'd definitely save on the sound card and put it towards the most expensive graphics card you can afford. You're gonna need something a bit better than a gtx550 to make the most of the rest of your system. I'd also go for a slightly bigger power supply to be a bit more future proof and if you've got the room I'd go for a full size case rather than a midi-tower. Better for cooling and graphics cards seem to be getting bigger and bigger these days. Oh yeah, did you know Rise of Flight is a freebee?

Oh dear, Friar. I seem to become increasingly drawn to the unholy schism that is Rise of Flight.

Well the new beta patch is out and the results for me are frankly disappointing. Had a serious performance hit. Pre-beta I had around a forty fps average with few stutters which made the game very playable. Same went for online too. Now I'm down to around 25 fps with stuttering and online is worse. Not really playable at the moment. In these terms I'm back to release levels of performance. Call me a cynical old fool but the new graphics seems to consist to me of turning the brightness up and the contrast down. The ground looks good like this the shorelines are much more defined and tracers are much improved but thats it for me. Everything else sucks. Why did they fiddle with the visuals which were o.k. when there's so much more that needs sorting out? However, the good news is the new sounds done by the guy from the Rise of Flight team are 100% better. What I'm afraid of is the devs ignoring the negative feedback and releasing this as the next official patch which will effectively sink the game for me until it's (hopefully) patched again. For BadAim; you realise that CoD is becoming a parody of the Obama administration? Massive expectation followed by swift disillusion and a lot of stumbling around with the very best of intentions but not really gettin' anywhere. Oh yeah, whatever your system, whatever you do don't fly through clouds no more or you'll be treated to Olegs magic lantern show!
