Just got home and did a test after booting up. It was 1:20. 11 seconds the second time. I had Raid0 on my last system with my 6 year old motherboard. But it was a ASUS Rampage II Extreme. But, Windows has been integrating Software RAID into Windows since XP. But I think I am not using that. I know that I go into my bios and change how the hard drives are accessed. EDIT: Just rebooted and turned off everything in my BitDefender. And the game started in 16 seconds! They had said that they fixed their problem with BitDefender, but.. Hmm.. Turns out to be their 'Intrusion Detection' module. It's off now. But I wonder why it didn't slow down loading every time? Only the first time?

You just go into the bios and set it up. You must install some windows drivers too. Then at bootup I think you then press ctrl-i to do raid setup. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk. My Bitdefender had caused loading issues in the past. But dcs no longer hangs at 12%. Maybe it's hanging before I see it now? Got me thinking.. Maybe I should do a test without BD running.. Also, I have not timed the normal load time. I can if you would like. But 11 seconds is faster than any ssd setup I believe. How fast is your load time? Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk.

I have most of the planes. No raid controller. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk.

I do. 2x ssd Raid0 for the c drive. This is much faster. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk.

Nice update/review Fen! And not too verbose I must say. I must! ;-) I will say that the game takes a long time to load. It's been that way for me for a long time. But, with my new rig, I have extra memory. And my mb came with some RamCache software. I set it up to create a large cache in memory when I boot up. So, once windows loads, any programs/files that I use are cached in memory in case I need them again. For me, what this means is that the first time DCS loads, it takes almost 2 minutes. The game performance is improved by this as well since any game files are stored in memory. But I have not done any tests to compare the increased fps with ram cache. But I would guess it was maybe a 10-15(+\-) increase in fps. That will depend on how much memory you have for the cache. I have a 45gb ram cache. ;-) But the best part is that anytime after the game loads, if I close it and restart DCS, it loads in 11 seconds. Yes, 11 seconds! So, if you have extra ram that you are not using, or have some empty slots on your mb, I would suggest giving this a try..

I cannot even build a simple multiplayer mission in the newly released 1.5. I just add 2x F-86s as clients, save, and run it, and it crashes. So, I can't build a Vietnam mission right now..

It's a well kept secret by the guy who made this mod. But here's the secret. You must play the game in 'Fall' season to see this mod. Shhhh... Don't tell anybody.
-
If you did have the 1.5 beta. Update that first as the official game will just copy most of the files over instead of downloading again..

Nope. But we should together. The old il2 Korea missions were a blast! F86 vs Migs, hueys.. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk.

New Game Launcher, New Set Up

Ok, thanks. Yes, I was in a custom realism setting. But I was wondering why there was only a Soviet RPM control as a 'general' control. I have not assigned it, but maybe I should just test it. Maybe it's a mistake, and it's not just for soviet aircraft? How do you know what Expert mode is? When you select it, the list of settings closes so you cannot see it. Well, I assume I should turn off all of the right column? (Piloting Assistance) That has the engine controls assists. Keep Warmed up engine on. And the Gameplay options are just up to me I guess.. EDIT: Well, I did just assign that Soviet RPM control to an axis, and it works fine in the He111. So, it's not just for Soviet... How do you add custom/personal skins to the game? What folder do they go in? I've downloaded a few.. Also, how to you play in a tank? I read about tanks on the forums, but don't see anyway to get into one. Is that just an online thing? I'm still knocking around learning the basics, and have not been online yet... -
Downloading Now! This will be great for several of the new aircraft. I remember playing IL2 with the Korea map many Wed nights with BA, Artie, AP, and the lot, shooting it up with Migs. HFSX put an end to that..

Is there an RPM control for German planes? I am just playing with this for the first time in a while.. and watched a vid on the He111 startup. He shows increasing RPMs for both engines before starting. But I only see an RPM (Soviet) control for both engines, and then there is an RPM for engine 1 and engine 2 that does not say (Soviet). So, I'm confused.. -
Is this just a movie, or a new map?

As a few of you know, I have recently upgraded my mobo, ram, cpu and heatsink. I have used these parts for about 6 years, auto overclocked at 4ghs most of the time. I added 6 gigs of G Skill ram a year ago because I couldn't find any matching Corsair Dominitor. (but now I see some for sale for $50!) So, after letting my old stuff gather some dust in the corner, it is time for it to go.. Here is a list of what I have to sell. I am really interested in selling it all at once so to save on shipping and packaging and will work a better deal! But will break it up. I put some links in there just for reference, so you can see pictures and descriptions. I agree. I've heard some people complaining.. but that's because they forgot, or don't understand what an alpha is. We shouldn't even have an Alpha IMO. It's just asking for complaints from people who don't understand. But I've had no BSOD. And actually I don't remember any official crashes. A few things just don't work, like that Fast Mission Builder. But I am amazed that I can get online and fly on a server no problem.

Got it, and it's awesome! I have everything on 'High' and am getting about 60+ fps. The DoF has been a fps killer, so it is off till it's fixed. When I set everything to High+Ultra I get about 25-45fps on my new rig.

I've been downloading the NTTR map since 7am this morning. That's 9.5 hours and it's at about 93%. That's just a new pic I saw in the DCS Facebook page. Slicker has a better connection and has it all running already. I should be up and running this evening I hope.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2573842#post2573842 Apparently, if you already have the 1.5 beta, the way 2.0 Alpha installs is by downloading the 2.0 installer. Which then copies about 17gig from your 1.5 folder. then it does one quick 300meg update. And then the 2gig download. Which may be slow with everyone on. I am only getting 8k/s right now. Which will take forever.. I have read some people having problems getting NTTR to install, and some workarounds. But this was just release a few hours ago, so it will be sorted out.. Download Here.

Well, I wish that I would have used GPT when I installed Windows, but I just formatted the partitions and installed it. Oh well, it doesn't really matter from what I have read. I don't have any 2T drives, and I have my own backups..

Well, my last board was a non-UEFI board, and now my new one has that. This is all new to me.
