As some of you know, I upgraded my rig a few weeks ago. I installed Windows 10 Home x64 clean on my existing 2x SanDisk Raid0 drive. Since then, I have been working out some bugs and kinks here and there. I've got most of them sorted out, but am wondering about my Partition setup. I have not heard of this GPT Partition Table thing before. Obviously Win10 upgrades fine over a Win7 MBR partition. And I think that when I installed it clean, I didn't change the partition. But with all the stuff I've been doing, I remember seeing some 'error/info?' message about GPT at some point. Maybe when I was booting? Maybe when I was in the bios? IDK. It only occured once. So, now that I have most other problems worked out, I was wondering if anybody knew much about this. What is it. Should I change my partition to use this? I can backup and restore an image on that I guess? PS: one of the problems that I figured out was that Task Scheduler crashes if you have Fraps set to Start with Windows. You get 1 fraps error when you Start Task Manager. From then on you get a MMC Snapin error every time and Task Scheduler is useless. Also, BitDefender has a new Ransomware feature. This stopped explorer.exe from accessing my Taskbar icons. This took several weeks to figure out, as the Ransomware normally pops up a window to ask if the app can have access. But it didn't most of the time. I finally just shut it off..

It was an upgrade. I have the box & DVD. The original key had issues. They had me run some backend app and put in a 'passcode' that they created to make it work.. I kept notes, and tried that this time with the 7 key too. But that didn't work. So that's when I contacted support.. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk.

I just upgraded my mobo, memory, and cpu. And I then did a clean install of Win10 Home x64. I skipped the activation until I was all installed. Then the nightmare started. Well, not nightmare, but it just did not work. At first it said my Windows 7 key was 'blocked'. So, I finally got on chat with MS Support, and after about 2 hours and a new big windows updated they said it should now accept my key after the reboot. Bye.. So they were done with me. And it did not work. Luckily, Raj called back about a half hour later to see if it worked. I told him no.. Now it says that my key is 'in use' on another computer. So, he tried for another half hour. He brought in his manager I think and then they finally gave up and just gave me a brand new Win 10 Home key. Now I'm fine. So, it is supposed to work. And it probably will for most people. But my Windows 7 key had issues. Even when I used it 6 years ago to installed. (I needed help from MS Support then as well..) PS: MS Support had desktop control of my computer most of the time. I normally don't trust people that I do not know doing that. So after they were all done, and I had the new key. I re-installed Windows 10 from scratch. A new clean install with that new key and it worked fine.

Same here. I didn't know BoS was getting anything but a winter map, which was boring after a while. So, this is great news and I am downloading the patch now..

Pretty much what Kira said. The new EDGE graphics engine does a lot of the work to make things look better, and give you better framerates. That engine works on all maps, and on everything. The old map looks better, but that's all. They have made no other improvements to it. But the new NTTR map has a ton of new detail to the cities and airfields. Just watch one of the videos to see all the new stuff to make it look more realistic. They put a lot of time into making this map as real as possible. It's much better than the older maps. But as a theater of operations, it's just basically the Top Gun/Red Flag training base.

It might take a few seconds to appear. I think it is looking up your account or something. Click. See your serial #.

Since I configure all my planes controllers in the Saitek profiler, I just had to assign my axis in the game. That took me about 30 mins yesterday to fix 12 aircraft. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk.

DCS is downloading a new update(1.5.0.45208.37) now. Hope simple things are fixed, like Create a Custom Mission CTD..

I was very happy with my in-cockpit fps. I was getting over 100 easy. But haven't tested I in a complex combat environment yet. But external view fps is not great. Sent via Galaxy Note 4 with Tapatalk.

Anytime I try to Generate a custom mission, or load one of my missions I get a CTD.

Ok, I figured it out.. sort of. My old Bitdefender bug is back. All I have to do is Disable Bitdefender AV/FW for about 10 seconds, then re-enable them. And it lets DCS connect. This is an old bug... I have spent about 5 hours trying all combinations of adding DCS exes to the BD exclusions list in the FW and in the AV and the results were always flaky. Sometimes my fix appeared to work. Then it would fail.. The only consistent solution was to disable then re-enable either (or both... I can't remember) the AV or FW. Which is a bug, because the FW/AV is on at first, and I cannot connect. And it is also on the second time, but I CAN connect. Very annoying, but now I know..

You install the beta as a separate install, along side (in another folder) your normal DCS game. The install copies your settings over from your normal install. And even has a separate Users\.....\Saved Games\DCS Beta folder. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/ You are supposed to then go into the Module Manager and Login to get your purchased modules activated (you don't loose activations).. I'm have been having login problems for the past 2 days with beta v1.2.16, but I hope it's on their server side, and that 1.5 will fix that.

Very cool! I've always wanted to learn how to do 3D Modeling, but the tools are just too expensive. And I didn't want to get a bootleg copy. How much does Cinema 4D cost? EDIT: Oops! Never mind, I just looked it up.
