  1. Well another "Look at how cool my computer is so you know I must be cool too" thread has started in the GD Forum.. Here's my responce------ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums?a= ... 3551070944
  2. I see Ubi was a sponsor of the show. Isn't that what the "GD" is for on the B-17, General Discussion? What's the story on "The Jacky C II"? Restored AVG fighter? 'Painted as..'? Replica? The next pic is cool as well. Are those B, C or E models? The air intake doesn't look big enough to be an M model but I dont see the rudder to wingtip wires. Great pics though. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Good stuff guys! Thanks for posting. After watching this I have two comments: 1. Real planes are much easier to see and identify, even when looking into the sun, than the game. 2. I don't feel nearly as bad about my shooting accuracy after seeing some of those films.
  4. Heck, I'll give it a shot! It's just what I need, yet another flight sim to make missions with and to skin. :bounce:
  5. Just noticed the expanded selection of emoticons. Look, here's my new RPG: :blackknight: :dmage: :druid: :bonedemon: :ogre: :lichmalignus: :thin: :whax: :whdat: Cool huh.
  6. I REALLY should visit more often! Woofiedog! Good to see you here. I've been after him to fly with the HellHounds as a guest for some time. Maybe the DangerDogz can convince him to go online. Let me say that woofiedog is one of the finest people I've had the pleasure to (virtually) meet. He was primarily responsible for making my What Happend Today in World War II History thread such a success.    I'm glad to see him here and would love to have him fly with the K9's.
  7. It goes to show that even after 5 years, there's always something new to see in the game. GREAT track!! Thanks for sharing.
  8. A little over the top response I'd say but it came out OK. Thanks for posting.
  9. Yes, MORE skins from the "hack artist" himself.
  10. Steve must be my brother which explains my "Arthuring" all the time. Poor guy, spent all that money (I assume) and all he remembers is the easy stuff.
  11. As you might know, Ubi Razz has "confirmed" the release of "Storm of War/Battle of Britain" for November 2006. (can anyone say '2 weeks'?) Nonetheless he is adamant about the release date. I saw some screenshots of the 109 and Spit cockpits and they are AWESOME! The clouds look good as well. If you haven't already, look here: http://www.pacific-fighters.com/en/screenshots.php More info can be found at SimHQ: http://www.simhq.com/_all/all_019b.html Fortunately for those of us with less than ideal BoB computers, we have a couple of patches to go with this game. As far as I am concerned, I love FB/AEP/PF and will keep it on my hard drive. (It helps to have a 250Gb drive ;-) ). However I intend on getting SoW/BoB as soon as I can afford it. Anyway, just a heads up to everyone. Arthur
  12. I was afraid of that. Seems there should be a way. Besides difficulty settings your starting rank and pilot profile should be editable as well. I went through an entire beta test of one of Dubbos campaigns at the wrong rank. It was no wonder I did horribly as it wasn't set up for that rank. Oh well, maybe in BoB. Thanks for the input.
  13. I'm in the midst of "Burning Ridge", the (apparently new), IL-2 Sturmovik campaign. When I started the campaign I must have inadvertently had "Limited Ammo" off in the Difficulty Settings. (I've been practicing my gunnery in the QMB). Is there any way to change the Difficulty Setting in the same way you can change your conf.ini, with say Notepad? I'd rather not start all over and using constraint when there are SO MANY juicy targets.......need I say more? I thought I'd ask here first instead of at the "Zoo". Between us we have as much smarts and probably more than "over there". Any help appreciated.
  14. The installation of BOTH 4.04 exe's has seemed to solve the problem. I'm now dying in later missions. Thanks!
  15. Hi everyone. thought I'd run a few new hacks by you guys before posting on the forums. I figure I can take more brutal punishment from my friends than from people I don't know. Comments, pro OR con, are welcome....PLEASE! First, 3 "Hacks" for the Kate~ Vought SB2U Vindicator/Pre War: Vought SB2U Vindicator/Post Pearl Harbor: Douglas SBD Devastator: The Devastator is a nearly complete WIP and I have 2 QUESTIONS about the skin; 1. Should I make the underside grey? 2. Is the color fairly accurate? Should it be a greyer blue?/darker blue?/bluer blue? And finally, a DB-3f 'hacked" into a Douglas B-18: (I am now accepting donations for my legal defense as I have "named names".)
  16. Thanks. I'll try that and report back tomorrow. BTW, I'm done with the last request project (5 planes) and am ready to work on your Pe-3. I may have questions. I'll e-mail them or PM them (via this forum.)
  17. il2.exe AND il2fb.exe? I only changed the fb.exe Can I just copy/paste the 4.04 exe's over the current ones in 4.05 or do I need to remove the exe's and then replace?
  18. I thought I copied the 4.04 exe to the upgraded game. I copied 4.04 in it's entirity to a backup folder before updating. Quazi suggested I take the 4.04 exe and replace the 4.05 one. I thought I did. Any way to tell the difference?
  19. ...not related to the author "Arthuring" Normally, (fortunately) I seldom have problems. but now I have one and I thought I would bring it to the Kennel first. In community Help it was suggested that it was a heat problem but I tend ot think not as I can host 10-15 of us for up to eight hours at a time w/o problems. Here's my story: So I thought I would give the Red Ridge campaign a try. It seems to be a new one as I haven't seen it until after I upgraded to v4.05. Anyway, I completed the first mission and almost completed the second. During the second mission, on the way home, the computer locks up solid and my desktop cursor shows on the game screen. I can't shut down the game via Ctrl+Alt+Delete. My only option is a hard reboot. This has happen twice in a row. I have never experienced this problem before. I've heard almost a similar complaint from a couple of folks on the forum concerning the Pe-2 campaign. Is this a 4.05 bug or..........here my DxDiag: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 5/8/2006, 18:59:09 Machine name: SQUARE-PANTS Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: INTELR System Model: AWRDACPI BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 2048MB RAM Page File: 312MB used, 3630MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. 20. Grey Beast has done some FABULOUS air racing courses using this technique. Zeus is right, it's done with Excel. Grey Beast told me that's how he does it, that and he also uses CAD a lot so working in 6 axis is second nature to him. Here's a link to airwarfare's racing section: http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/FB/fb_racing.htm Where you can find some of the most outrageous examples of this "new" art form. this sim NEVER fails to amaze me, at times onm a daily basis.
  21. Good first movie. Enjoyed the heck out of it. The only real (niggling) complaint was the stutters. Did you record the movie at half speed? That seems to be the consenus among the moviemaker community. apparently it keeps the stutters down. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to your next effort. Good job m8!
  22. Very, very nice! Your wife and Zeus-cat. . .separated at birth? (He does wonderful stained glass work as well.)
  23. I just upgraded my monitor. After having the "love of my life" 19" NEC FE991SB lose it's vertical sync, then having my old standby 17" CTL also bite the dust, I just got a 19" Viewsonic VA902b LCD display. 8ms response time! Under $300.00!! Nice bright picture, colors are AWESOME! Text is sharp! -AND- The game has never looked so good. I had to put the native resolution of 1280 X 1024 into the FB conf.ini file but I don't even notice the two small black bands top and bottom unless,,,I use the plane mirror. It gets replicated in the lower left corner in the empty area. That small niggle aside, NO DEAD PIXELS! NO GHOSTING! I couldn't be happier. As Quazi would say..."Man this game is beautiful!"
  24. The site is looking very, very good! I like the idea of email addys. I vote yes!
