Patch has been pushed to Stable Release version - bombs, drop tanks and increased radiator efficiency now available to all!

OK, so the auto update did it's thing, but I don't see an option for the clipped wing.  When I launch the instant action takeoff in the Spit, although I am seeing a graphical representation of  the hard points to load tanks or bombs, my load out options still only show EMPTY as a choice.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks

  2. Well I now have the F86 and F5E.. but I have not flown either except for a quick Buzz around the Nevada map in the 86. While I agree somewhat with what Kira says, personally I doubt if I will go beyond those two jets unless the F4 makes an entrance (along with a Vietnam map). But hey, I'm easy..you put up a server and if I have it and there is an aircraft I can fly, I will be there: or not ?! I prefer the props cause they are like me; old and slow and take a lot of "handling" to work right ?????!

  3. Sad to admit,  but models from my childhood came to inglorious end as targets to a new 22 caliber rifle. From age 10 to 18 I must have built 100s..no professional work like what y'all do, but they got better over time. Stacked on a 4ft wide, 8ft high, 2ft deep, 6 shelf metal monster. As I approached my time to leave home and go in the Air Force, my mom said to "move them out". Well a friend and I decided to take my models (even a quite nice floating, working, 24" long model of my dad's fishing boat) and his new rifle to a deserted beach (this was the early 60s in rural Texas) and "blow them up". Well 20 boxes of 50 each 22 long rifle ammo, we had a pile of plastic and a sunk boat(we cleaned up our mess). That was the end of my model building era?! My friend later on ended up in the Army in a rifle squad and credits coming home from 2 tours in Vietnam (to a small degree) to that target practice at the beach. Oh, and he built models to the quality level of y'alls work when he came home.

  4. Super pics...luv me some drag racing! I watch NHRA on the tube, but I wish they would show more of the lower classes along with the big guys! I grew up going to the "drags" at the old Houston, TX, strip in the 60s! Thanks for sharing!

I have found that a small paintbrush works well as a duster for delicate things.  We use 1" around work.

I will grab one of my wife's softer craft brushes and use that...thanks!

  6. Continuing the saga. Flew the trusty Spit offline yesterday for about 4hrs. Got to the point where I could takeoff, fly the pattern, make a curving approach, land and repeat without changing aircraft 3 out of 4 times. Then I took on the Las Vegas Tour (which I crashed trying before) and made the entire thing only missing one gate and landed and only polished one wingtip. Maybe another 50-60 hrs and I will start to feel comfortable enough to go shoot at things ?! Onward and upward!

Got it here too, even on the iPhone.

However, a good old refresh, via Button or F5 and it's there... no real worries.

I will shoot an email Rog's way though ...

Refresh works for me on every page except "Browse Forums". No biggie as I can always find a way in. You can try and hide from me but I will find you ???!

I use Chrome. When I load the Dogz page for the first time today it says it's unavailable and won't load. I click the reload button I'm offered and it loads ok. Similarly refreshing the page works. A fault somewhere?

I have been using Firefox and never had a problem. I just tried Chrome on my tablet and all I get is that the site is not working and can't connect. I  got here by looking at content I started. I can do work arounds but still no joy on just browsing forums. Guess I got a USA to UK issue on my end. Maybe because of the 4th of July ?!

  9. Is it just me or is anyone else having problems accessing the forums.  If (and when) I can get  it to log in, I cannot access the forums using the "Browse/Forums".  I have to kind of back door my way around and can eventually get to where I can either read or post.  I thought at first it was just a problem with my tablet version (Android) then I came to my PC using Windows 10 and I am having the exact problem.  This started for me after yesterday's flying session.  I see where others are still posting so I may be the only one having this issue. Thanks

  10. After today's venture into online dogfight server, I can truly attest to the fact that I am not "ready for prime time". I am still trying to conquer the aircraft handling, engine management, etc., so my situational awareness ain't happening. So me thinks I will stick offline and get comfortable in the cockpits before I go out and be target practice for the foes. 7 takeoffs, 5 shoot downs, two landings one of which me and the AC lived thru. BoX, CLoD and 1946 for me ???!

Very nice, especially for $25.  Also very dusty, apparently.

Dust? That's what the antique world calls "patina" ??! Yeah, it was a tad dusty but I am really careful wiping it down as the decals are getting quite fragile.

  12. Didn't think about Reshade but that could be it. Never got it to work right anyway (won't respond to to whatever keys I use to turn it on or off) so I will just get rid of it. Other than that, running most everything high all is good at least off line. The problems I was having with lockups on the Normandy map seems to have gone away. I flew for a couple of hours and never had a problem today.

So, here's a follow up on the issues I had experienced with this update to 2.5.2:

The installed version would just not update to 2.5.2, and there was no repair option...

So, before re-installing from scratched, I had moved the old version over to a different disk, as a backup. Next, installed the new one, into a differently named folder, and created a new shortcut for it. It was updated and shift and all...

Then Yesterday, post Clod session I fired it up, and all was well. Very well. Flak bursts and all.

Now today I found out that the original shortcut had changed itself to the new location of the moved folder... so in fact I was running the original troubled version yesterday! No idea how it got updated though, must've happened when I thought I fired up the newly installed one, but in fact use the wrong/old shortcut? (This would explain just fine how all content -spit, P51, Normandy- were all active and present after the new install though...)

Anyways, deleted the newly installed one, and moved the original contents back to its original disk.

Wow... glad that in the end you got it sorted!

  14. In the "for what is worth" department,  I am attaching some pictures of a desk model of an early T-38 Talon that I found at an antique shop in a small town about 30 miles from my home a few years back. Northrop used to give these out in the early `60s to squadron commanders, etc. I saw many on the desks of the flying officers I worked under during my stint as a simulator instructor from 1964 to 1975. I think I gave $25 for it and it stays displayed on a higher shelf in my living room.

  15. I've got 150+ hours in the P51 and I am halfway comfortable with it. I've got 10+ hrs in the Spit and I feel like I am trying to herd cats across a frozen pond ???! For every 10 flights in the Spit, I fly one in the 51 just to remind myself I can still "fly"... This too shall be overcome with practice. I've got a F86 and F5 waiting in the wings but I WILL beat the Spit in to submission before I touch them ?!

  16. I get that same really strange colored screen just before the game comes to life. Bizarre. But, I flew every map for about 10 minutes or so and everything seems to be working. Normandy looks and acts much better. Some of my key bindings disappeared, not sure how many yet and I may have to work on my TrackIR settings as they seem to be "not quite right".. dunno but will putz with it later. But I am done for the day..

Will be out tomorrow for physical therapy appt. Catch y'all Sunday if not before.

Ah, that explains it then... so that's what one gets for doin' a perfect landing in a Spitty.... lol

Unfortunately, the entire Eagle Dynamics stuff is missing from my start menu... did I clean it up a bit too much? Probably ... :)

The shortcut I use to start DCS is pointing to DCS_Updater.exe, so, should it not do the job for me?

In the end, either wait a bit more, or would a change the time/date on the puter fix it? ?

Land the Spitty? What's that mean?  I can takeoff now with only 50% assist but me and the ground/dirt/runway are not friends.. had to jump in a P51 just to get my confidence back!

Because you played after midnight your time yesterday!

Force the update via the Windows Start icon in the task bar. Scroll down the alphabetical list under the recently added until you reach the Eagle Dynamics folder click and under the sub-tree select 'Update DCS World'. Et voila!

Thanks Fen.. I had to do that.. downloading now! My updated needed updating as well.. two for  one!
