I have discovered that once I discovered the A-10C, the full switch deal, I simply couldn't effectively fly the FC3 stuff. Why? Switch position. I found that I had zero situational awareness of what was on or off what was selected, and what wasn't - something I can tell at a glance in a full switch module. The total lack of secondary visual information in this regard with FC3 makes those aircraft much harder for me to use.
I agree Kira, the non clickable 'pit is maddening (and harder cause I gotta memorize all the key bindings) but it will give a little entertainment for $15 while I wait for the next big ED sale. Plus I am learning about the weapons delivery systems.

As a rule for all FC3 level aircraft (and even the full blown jet modules) these are the primary bindings to map to joystick or throttle as you'll reference them often and usually under stress!:
1. Target Designator Cursor (TDC) Up, Down, Left, Right - put this on a hat switch. Yes, even if it means banishing trim control to the keyboard; you'll use TDC control more!
2. Weapon Select
3. Airbrake
4. Chaff and Flare dispense
Thanks Fen. I have extra hat switches and a mini joy stick on my throttle I should be able to assign. Knowing now what the TDC is helps ?!

Now the key bindings begin. Hope I have enough since the cockpits ain't clickable...but hey, that's part of the brain melting process ?!

Well dipping my toes in the newer stuff. Keeping it simple for now. Bought the A10A and the F15. Complicated enough for now and I will save what brain cells I have left for the F-14. I see a Warthog Hotas in my future..maybe around black Friday..

The Jug is gonna be a beast to fly.. can't wait! ??

My understanding, the tags only appear if you pre-ordered a set. But then again, I don't understand much ?!

No blue tint here so I don't think it is generic to the game, but then again I have been tweaking and seeking on mine for so long and am on my second different monitor, so I am probably not a good resource. Someone will pipe up with more I'm sure!
BTW, good to "meet" you.

Thanks Fin.. still on the edge (of jumping off the cliff) of pre-ordering the Tomcat. Decisions, decisions.

Finally watched the video...cold chills... just might break down and take the plunge. Still want the A10C..this sh$t is getting expensive ?!

May just have to try me some of this! If I can takeoff from somewhere remote and hide ?!

Thanks. Downloaded and installed on the first try... that's a new record for me ?!

Thanks for the welcome Bill from Sutherland, the Northern Highlands of Scotland.I gathered from seeing Fen's YouTube footage he would be worth talking to.I didn't realise he was part of a Forum flight group.
So here I am! Yes,early days for flying the DCS Spit.Takeoff and landing reasonable.Spotting bandits Oh dear.I blame the monitor.A good reason perhaps
to get a new one! I also dabble a bit with the F-86.
I haven't looked at your time difference yet, but I assume its a late or early flight slot UK time?
I think I am about 5-6 hours time wise behind your part of the world. Being retired and pretty much a homebody, allows me to join the fun in the early afternoon my time most days. I have put Fen to bed at midnight his time many times ?!

Welcome to the fun Mark. I can surely attest to Fen's (Tom)skill as a mentor. I can takeoff and land (and on rare occasions dogfight) in the DCS Spit (and other ACs because of his tutelage). I am a newbie to the Dogz but I've felt "at home" with all of them from the beginning. So come on in, the water is just fine. BTW: Howdy from Texas, USA!

All that can be yours for the paltry sum of $90 beginning Oct 1.

Updated.. thanks Tom!

I'm in, but I have all modules and all but 3 aircraft as well as pre-ordered Bodenplatte. I agree that those that have none or only the bare minimum need to speak to this change.

...is Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness month, hence the change to my profile picture. It will go back to my ugly mug in October. That is all, carry on!

It is a good idea.
And quite doable as well, if only we had a fine GB mission builder in our midst!
True... I do remember flying one evening (my time) on a DF map created by a DD member..just don't remember who. TOAD was there so I will ask him.

Don't worry, neither do I. On the other hand, neither do any of us!
Maybe something like the great map set on the DD CLoD server? Not saying we set up a server, just using that as an example. Just throwing stuff out and seeing what might stick I am <in my best Yoda voice>.

Why not just run dogfight type maps like what WOL runs? Have objectives for both sides to accomplish, make most if not all AC available so there is a lesser chance of folks getting "locked" out. I'll shut up now as I probably don't know what I'm talking about (as usual). And no, I have no idea how to accomplish the preceeding.

...still swapped controller assignments in 1946. I know I was saying since I went to a powered usb hub that swapping was no longer an issue. It still isn't with all other games (DCS, CLoD, BoX), but between me changing joy sticks (going back to my CH from the Thrustmaster T.16000m) to get more buttons and the latest Win 10 update, scrambled 1946 good. No worries, it's all sorted again and we will see if the next update effects anything if I don't change joysticks in the midst of the update.

My current game drive is a 500gb ssd (D: drive) . As of today, I have 183gb free. Just noted that IF I decide to get the F-14, it needs 120gb of disk space. With that in mind, I am considering getting an M.2 1tb ssd and move everything to that. Not my OS, it is on its own 120gb ssd (C: drive). Not sure what I will use the empty 500gb ssd for, but I am sure it will be used. I do have a conventional 2tb hdd (E: drive) that I use as a back up for data. Anyone see any obvious problems with this? And yes, my motherboard has the M.2 slot. Thanks in advance.
