Thanks all! I was just putzing around yesterday on our CloD server and letting the Spit continue to beat me up in DCS. Thought I would try the Beau for some relaxing...well I was relaxed as I never got off the ground ?!

Fuel levers are over to the left rear, a big red wheel, and a green one.
Rotate them both to 'inner'.
Then, per engine, a bit of throttle (8%) and ignition. Then wait and be patient, until both engines are warm enough to apply power needed for take off. Might take over five minutes...
Okay will try that later...I think I had them on "outer" . Is the third fuel lever supposed to be up or down? Thanks!

Tried, failed, still parked. Anyone provide the starting sequence for the Beau? I am missing something (obviously) as all I get is one or two revolutions of the prop and engine stops.. got the mags on, the fuel (I think) selected but no go.. help an old man out for future reference please.

12 takeoff attempts, 3 takeoffs completed that looked like a drunken monkey. One training landing pattern, landed without breaking anything and then commenced to ground loop 4-5 times.. damn the Spit is "twitchy" compared to the 51. Got a lot of tweaking to do on controls and key bindings in my future with this warbird :-0 !

I now have (including the new stuff I bought today); Caucasus, Nevada and Normandy maps. P51, Spit, F5, F86. Also got a couple of campaigns for the 51 & Spit. Think I will start with learning the basics of the Spit first, then the F86, then the F5. There is only so much my mushy old brain can absorb so I think I am done with aircraft. The modern stuff would require more time that even I can give them. Plus I am not sure I have the brain power or reflexes. Carry on!

Thanks for the trip thru history!!

Life, as in real, must always take precedence and time worked now means easier going on the flip side.

Good for you.. Now quit working so hard and get some "flyin'" time in!

Found this on the interweb https://portforward.com/bt/home-hub-3/
Is that what you are looking for?

Actually ~300USD seems to be a really good price if it works (and I suspect it does) as good as it looks! Can't wait to hear/see your appraisal of this.

My particular setup would probably only allow up to maybe 32-35" but that would be pushing it as I can only get about 36" away. The white PVC has Bern painted gunmetal grey now.

For all its really nice representation of the real thing, ED and DCS can be a real headache. Sometimes not worth the time and/or money, it seems.
It is definitely a process that can wear on your nerves. For me, it's a love/hate relationship. Love the detail, hate the tedium (not to mention the costs of AC).

Thinking about going up to a 27" monitor. Current monitor is an Asus 24" 144hrz, 1ms, TN panel, 1920x1080p. Looking at a 27" curved 144hrz, 1ms, VA panel, capable of 2560x1440p by MSI (vid card and mono are MSI). I know my 1060 6gb vid card may struggle with the 1440, but I can run at 1080p if needed until I can upgrade my card to a 1070/1080 Ti. Budget rules out Gsync but I haven't had it and am having no tearing problems. Thoughts, suggestions would be welcome.
And no, VR is not in play here. Budget is a consideration, somewhere close to ~400 USD.
Thanks!

I still only have the P51 but I have the Normandy map + WWII assets.

Bodenplatte is gonna be fun.. I have flown around in the Mark IX in both the clipped and normal wing configuration and I like it.. lots of good "birds" coming!

FINALLY. I have never had to go thru so much crap for a game. Guess ED had a bunch of problems with Steam or people stealing their stuff. Shsesh. For a game.., but it's their money. I need to go back to work to get some rest from these games ???????!

Well after digging in the depths of the ED forums and jumping thru 1 or 200 hoops, I got the 51 to work. Trying to launch the Normandy map now and it is sitting and spinning. Win some, wait on others.

So I bought the Normandy map + WWII assets. Didn't pay attention to the disclaimer about it not being compatible with Steam. Figured (assumed) they just weren't on Steam. Nope, ya gotta have the standalone version of DCS to download and install. Well damn, I really should pay attention. So anyway I put in a question to support and while I am waiting for them to honor me with a response, I copied my P51 folder to another location and I am downloading the standalone version with hopes of putting my P51 folder where it needs to be it the standalone. Someone tell me I am wrong/right/maybe thinking.
Thanks as always.

Not sure if this is related to the freeze I experienced tonite, but when I exited the game I had a msg from Windows that the location of my temporary internet files had been moved from its default location and did I want to diagnose the issue. I, of course, said yes and it found the files moved to my D drive and moved it back to the C drive. Just throwing that out. I can up my network speed to 100mbs (symmetrical) if need be for DCS. Hey it's only $20 a month more and if that is what it takes to keep blowing up tents, I'm there ???!

I am running an I5-6600 and a gtx 1060 6gb and a 500w ps and run almost wide open in Box, CLoD, 1946 and a tad lower in DCS and never get south of 60fps normally staying in the 90 -120 range on a 144hz monitor. Same Bazooka mother board. I purposely didn't get anything overclockable to keep myself in check. I have 16gb of DDR4 2133 and will upgrade to 32gb of DDR4 2400 when the cost of ram drops some. Again, file this in the what its worth column ?!

I'm a noobie with DD but long in the tooth with IL2. I am currently using the Thrustmaster T.16000m FCS HOTAS and CH Products rudder pedals. I don't do any jets in DCS yet so they work out well. I have both the CH products Combat Stick and throttle but they are 12 years old now and I need to rebuild them some day. I have the parts but not ambition since the Thrustmaster stuff is working good and were relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of the stuff out there. Anyway, that's my .02 cents worth. Good luck with your hunt.

Yay me.. took off 5 times in a row in the Spitfire and only wobbled but didn't fall down... landings.. not so much success.. beautiful approaches with beautiful bounces, assorted wing tip polishing, flips and such.. managed to get down after about 10-11 attempts in one piece and only ground looped right at the end. Me thinks it is my airspeed as I need to adjust my glasses to see the indicator better, but it could be I am just putting on a show for the civilians on the base.. either way, progress.
Fen - the stick pitch settings seem to be spot on for me, thanks for that.. I need to work on roll a bit...
My PC and the Normandy map don't seem to like each other much especially if I am near the coast on takeoff. Stutters and solid lock-ups that I have to cntrl-alt-delete out of.. doesn't happen on the Caucasus or Nevada.. doesn't happen every time if I can get away from the coast quickly and I am not sure the coast is the culprit until I test some more...
Fun and games and I am up to the challenge!!!
Carry on!
