MadTrooper Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Great work Mayhem ! A very nice skin in deed MT Quote
Streak Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 That is very cool. In fact all the skins that have been posted are incredible. Don't suppose I could talk one of you talented gents into doing on for my camel? Then obviously explain where it needs to go so I can use it...... Quote
Mayhem Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 Yeah sure, I'll do it, do you have some ideas of what you would like? Once I have that, give me a couple of days, and I'd be glad to. Besides MadTrooper has been cranking these out so I need to do some more. Quote

I'm not even going to attempt to imagine what he is implying here. Too bad its the wrong time period or this would be perfect I'll see what I can come up with. Quote

BadAim Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 She's a beauty ay? I couldn't ask for anything more. I really love the logo, 1911's wouldn't have looked nearly as good. I am not worthy. Quote
Mayhem Posted September 12, 2011 Author Posted September 12, 2011 Awesome, so glad you like it. Wasn't sure how it would go over but happy to see folks like it. Quote
BadAim Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I was looking at this skin from my phone earlier, and I thought it looked awesome. Now that I see it in all of it's glory on the full size monitor, I can only say.......WOW! I love the ammo belts, and the tributes to Jim......... Thank You. Quote
Mayhem Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 You are very welcome BA, glad you like it. Wrapping the ammo belts was a little fiddly. Most of the pictures I found of ammo belting for the Vicker's showed only the front half of the bullets actually in the fabric belts with only the tips sticking out the front. I'm not particularly a WW1 munitions expert so while it might look a little wonky at first I believed this to be period correct. If its wrong I can rework it for you, though it was a bit of a chore lining all the panels up especially on the ailerons. Quote
Tribunus Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I believed this to be period correct. I’ll make a comment here before Jedi jumps in. The original Vickers Web Belts were a marvel of British over-engineering, with a complicated pattern of brass stiffing bars. Mayhem, it would have taken you days to accurately render an authentic Vickers Web Belt. But even with the brass stiffeners, the belt proved to be unsatisfactory for aerial warfare and was replaced with a disintegrating belt modeled after the design of a captured German disintegrating belt. BadAim Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I'm more than happy with the belts as they are. Quote
