Rise of Flight ICE finally arrived, and I’m trying to get the controls set up.

After some trail and error, I got the stick MS-FF2, CH rudder pedals and CH Pro throttle working correctly. The charge machine guns, the trigger, and I assume the bomb drop buttons, were all set to the stick by default.

But I am having trouble mapping some other controls.

I’m trying to map the following to my CH Pro Throttle

Zoom in – zoom out

Blip switch

Radiator controls

Mixture controls

When I’m in Options\Flight controls, the game sees the different “Joysticks” (0 for stick, 1 for pedals, 2 for throttle) and recognizes the commands I’ve entered. And I am saving them.

But when I get into the game, none of them work.

Is there something I’m missing?

HI Tribubus,

If your CH Pro Throttle has a profiler, try not to load any profile, then remap your plane controls ie pitch yaw roll and try programming the different buttons. Also look at those treads may be you'll find an answer to you problem: http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewforum.php?f=350

I’ll have to read through those and do some trouble shooting.

I do use a CH profile as I have the push to talk button for Team Speak mapped to a button on my throttle.

What puzzles me is that the game see and allows the throttle to function, and it sees the input for the other functions I’m trying to get it to perform, but they will not work in the game

Had the same issues when I was trying to use an X52 profile in RoF. I disabled it, entered the buttons/axis that I wanted to use in the RoF control panel and it worked fine.

By the way, TS3 allows you to use joystick inputs for push to talk, you no longer need to remap a button to a key for that feature.

Hope this helps. As I mentioned, I will be around tomorrow if you want to PM me and I can try to help further.

Talk to you later

I tried it without activating the CH control manager.

I then went into RoF and reset the button/axis and saved it with a new name.

But once I got into the game, I had the same problem. The joystick, rudder pedals and throttle worked, the charge machineguns and fire machineguns worked.

But all the other functions did not.

hmmm....are the buttons that you are trying to use the only activators listed under that function in ROF? There are three positions available for each control. I am wondering if there might be a conflict. I realize that these questions seem somewhat simple, just trying to cover all bases. I would hate for anyone not to enjoy this game as much as I do.

You are correct Mate; there are three blocks for commands. One or two of the blocks have the default commands. I am trying to enter my custom commands into the blank box.

Once I’m finished, I save it with an individual name. Then I start the game.

With a new profile, the flight controls work, but I usually need to invert the throttle and rudder pedals. The charge MGs and fire MGs, is on the stick by default and those work.

So the game is seeing all three in-put devices. But so far it will not recognize the extra commands I’m trying to map.

Trib; make sure you have got rid of all the default key commands the game has assigned to mixture settings, throttle blip, etc. before assigning new commands from your 'sticks. Make sure, in the three columns there are no double grey boxes which show 'multiple' keys assigned for the same function.

Just had a lot of trouble with this as the last patch set all controls back to default. :icon_cry:

Yes, that is exactly what I was getting at. Make sure there are no other assignments in those three boxes other than the ones that you enter.

Jedi,

Thank you Mate, I truly appreciate the help that you gave me.

And thank you to the rest of you for your kind assistance.

All fixed? COOL! Let us know what was wrong so we can share with others in the future, and of course what fixed it.

Happy Skies!

Half an hour on teamspeak with Jedi is worth a thousand words. In fact it's worth about fifty-eight thousand words. Luckily most of it is solid gold hard information. :thumbsu:

Just happy to be useful. Have fun. If you require any further assistance, just shout.

HI Jedi and thanks for helping. Can we know what was the problem and its solution so I could insert it in our RoF Setup guide and tools ? If it happens to someone else at least that person will be able to find a quick solution.

Thanks.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Thank you again Jedi.

The zoom in and out problem was me trying to map buttons to the Camera zoom rather than the Pilots Head zoom. Jedi quickly pointed this out and we were able to fix the problem.

The far as the other controls……… Well to tell you truth, I’m not sure how Jedi did it; I just know that it worked.

Basically, we fixed it by methodically, (Jedi’s specialty) going through the list and deleting any superfluous commands and then in-putting the buttons that I wanted to use.

And, the CH Control Manager was not a problem. I had it turned on, so that I could use my Team Speak push to talk switch, which is located on my Pro Throttle.

So having the CH Control Manager on or off does not seem to be an issue

No, but the conflicts that we pointed out were. Glad to hear that it is cleared up and I hope that we can fly together some afternoon (for us/evening for you on a weekend perhaps?) together.

Again, you no longer need a profile to use a joystick button with TS3, they added that feature a while back.

HI Tribunus,

Thanks for letting us know how you guys fixed your problems. The main thing is that you are ready to fly now and that we'll be seeing you in the RoF skies.
