Demo=identical content to the full sim.

Only difference is the permissions: the time limit, activities you can do, and flyable planes. That's why one can always download the demo and use their retail activation key in the event of a lost or damaged DVD. So you should be able to set the graphics at a level that your hardware will take it. You are able to fly only two aircrafts. The Spad 13 (Entente) and the Albatros D.Va (Order).

Thanks for posting this MD, this is exactly what I recommended to Kimosabi the other night. He downloaded the demo and purchased a key from their webstore and is now up and running....his comments are on the instant message screen on the main page.

Got the Iron Cross Edition yesterday and cranked it all up! Beautiful game!

I found out that there's no use in forcing AA/AF or anything though, better to set it to "use application settings" and tweak it in-game. Otherwise you'll never get rid of those jagged lines.

I didn't need to use a key at all. Only the purchase and boom, the game was unlocked. Thanks Prop!

HI Jedi, try ''HDR Off'' and landscape to medium under you ROF Graphic settings. That might help!

Hey Jedi, I was just looking at the GPU/CPU combo on notebook check.com and according to their findings you should be able to play RoF on low/med settings just fine. Honestly this game still looks awesome on those settings. You can download the demo and try it out though. And like MT said, turn HDR off.

IIRC when I first tried the game, after Prop first mentioned it, my rig was running an E8500 Duo, 4GB RAM and a 4850x2 graphics card. Not the worst card in the world but the processor was just overworked and couldn't keep up since the game really can and will use four threads/cores. Even ran the E8500 @ 4gHz back then. This was one of the reasons to why I stopped playing the demo and ixnayed it because I had similar experiences as you have, Jedi. It is a demanding game. Try running it on lower settings, it most probably is your hardware holding you back.

I thought the demo was full access to features but restricted to the planes that come with the boxed edition and usable for only 14 days. Someone that currently has the Demo running want to chime in?

I tried the demo and liked it so much I picked up ICE. I'm very impressed with it.

Do the campaigns (other than training) become available only once the training is completed? I don't see the Du Doch Nicht campaign as available.

I'm running it on a E8400 + 2 gigs + 2X ATI 4850... I've found it runs very well on my machine with everything maxed except for landscape (at med instead of high). Really immersive!

I like the small touches like the fact that your wingmen don't just sit stock still after they start up the engine, you can see them moving about a little. I'm impressed at how well no-man's land looks, with geysers of dirt thrown up by artillery shells, brownish dust-pall etc...

I find myself wishing I had TIR 5 with a wider as I can't seem to look over the edge and down over the cockpit coaming.... Also found it necessary to assign the TIR centering function (f12) to a button as it's very difficult to keep a proper bead when wriggling all over the sky in a dogfight.

I won't be able to join you guys for a while, but I'm having a great deal of fun flying on my own.

MadTrooper posted a tutorial to set your views while in combat, they override TiR as long as you are holding the hat button. This allows your head to remain steady while you aim and the plane gyrates.

Oh thinking back on those happy days barely 5 years ago when I could get home from work, fire up the old XP1700+, boil a pot of pasta, get onto HyperLobby and play IL2 until 2 a.m. after gulping down plate of said pasta... <SIGH>
