Blairgowrie Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 As some of you know, I build lawn furniture in my spare time from Ontario white cedar that comes off our property and my dear wife sells them down in Toronto where we get a good price. Proceeds are more than enough to keep me in scotch. The first pic is a finished single Muskoka chair. Please note the golf green and tee back in the distance of the 7th, par 3 hole. The next one is a new creation; the double chair with table. Stole the design off the web. Here the wife heads off to the big city to peddle her wares. Quote
1. DDz Quorum B16Enk Posted September 5, 2006 1. DDz Quorum Posted September 5, 2006 Very nice BG. Where does the name 'Muskoka' come from? Quote
JensenPark Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 The Muskoka's is an area north of Toronto...lake and cottage country... Where all the wealthy from Toronto go on weekends. About a 2 hour drive north. Winter time it is for skiing and skidooing. And, oddly enough, where I used to live. Till they found out I was poor and made me leave. The chairs are synonomous (sp?) with cottage living...wood chairs out on the dock at the lake...that kinda' thing. Nice pics Jim. Like what you've done to the 7th hole...it was looking a bit rough last we played it. How do you get the dogs to pose so well? Quote
Blairgowrie Posted September 5, 2006 Author Posted September 5, 2006 You will notice Helen has not yet cut the 7th green. I just tell Bonnie & Clyde to go sit on their rock and, fearing the wrath of BG, off they go. Then when I want them to pose, I say "watch me" and they oblige. Quote
Cold_Gambler Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Nice work Jim, the varnish really brings the wood to life. Kind of ironic that you haul the chairs all the way down to T.O. only to have the buyers load them onto their SUVs and haul them all the way back up north. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted September 5, 2006 Author Posted September 5, 2006 I think a few of them would look good in your garden CG. Quote
DoubleTap Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 BG, Since it looks like you have skills in woodworking, you ever think of making cockpit/flight chairs? (Hint, Hint?) Quote
1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted September 5, 2006 1. DDz Quorum Posted September 5, 2006 Good work BG, I think they call these "Adirondak" chairs here in the states. Where the rich from NYC go upstate, like those from Toronto. Pooka Quote
Redeye Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Those are great looking BG! And I agree with doubletap - you should try your hand at a simpit Quote
Enforcer57 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 What isnt visible in the background are all the indentured servants. They sitll have that in the great north I understand. They pay them with beer. Nice chairs there BG. Neat dogs too. God I gotta go to Canada someday. Quote
Beebop-RIP Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Those are real beauties BG. I especially like the double. In the States we have a similar chair called an Adirondak. A variation, suitable for rolling you inside after a lazy afternoon of Scotch: (Oops. Did I say that?) Oddly, this came up as a Google image for Adirondak: Go figure. It's Google. Seriously, good looking work mate. It's no surprise they fetch good money. Quote
JensenPark Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 funny, this is what comes up when you Google BG: Quote
Beebop-RIP Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 LOL! Unfortunately even this forum has rules that prevent me from showing you what you get when you Google "jensenpark". Quote
JensenPark Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Good one BeeBop! I think this is what it shows: Quote
