JensenPark Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 this comment came from a geek friend of mine when I showed him Sulky's new computer recommendation...(he loved everything else but said go ATI) any feedback? thanks, "Because I am an ATI fan, I have to recommend that you take a look at the Radeon4870/4890 cards as an alternative. Rattler Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 They are. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html It comes down to your preference, and what you've heard from others. I would've gone with a GTX Quote

JensenPark Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 sounds like 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other - and that both are good choices... thanks for your input guys... Quote
Sulky Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 as others have said, there isnt mich too choose, i only went with the 260 in your set up because you had a 9800 b4, but both cards are good Quote
T_O_A_D Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I picked up the 260GTX OC last week from Dell, after rebates, and a 25% coupon I got it for $137.00 If you get one make usre it a 216 SP and not a 192 SP GPU processor: GeForce GTX 260 Driver version: 190.38 Stream processors: 216 Core clock: 626 MHz Shader clock: 1349 MHz Memory clock: 1053 MHz (2106 MHz data rate) Memory interface: 448-bit Memory: 896 MB Video BIOS version: 62.00.4C.00.50 IRQ: 25 Bus: PCI Express x16 Only quirk I have is I can't get water in IL2 to look like my ATI card unless I run it in a off sized window mode. I'll get some screen shots real quick to show ya. And post them in the other thread I have on it. http://www.dangerdogz.com/forums/index.php/topic,7819.new.html#new Quote

DD_Brando Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I'm loving my 4890. It's fast and quiet - needing only 40% fan speed to keep the GPU at sub-48C throughout long sessions of IL2. Overclocking has been easy too, with it now at 960/1050MHz for GPU and memory, and perfectly steady. B Quote
