Streak Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 An interesting little happening here in my neck-O-the woods. F-16 strays a couple miles away from the live fire practice range and strafes a rented SUV. Nothing to see, just move along. HERE is a link to the story in Air Force-Magazine. Quote
Enforcer57 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Well, that was a career topping move. Shows that the DM of the 20mm hits in the sim are pretty accurate. Quote

Cold_Gambler Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I wonder if his rental insurance covers this Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted July 9, 2008 2. Administrators Posted July 9, 2008 Ooops. ~S~ Jabo P.S. Could someone enlighten me why there's a 'Sports Utility Vehicle' called the 'Suburban' - Sheesh Quote
Snacko Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 From Wikipedia: Many automotive companies in the United States used the "Suburban" name to indicate a windowed, station wagon type body on a commercial frame including Dodge, Plymouth, Studebaker, Nash, Chevrolet, and GMC. With the end of production of the Dodge Town Wagon in 1966, only General Motors continued to manufacture a vehicle branded as a "Suburban", and they were awarded an exclusive trademark on the name in 1988. Hmm, thanks Snacko - The point I was trying to make is that AWD humungous truck thingies are the ideal thing for using off-road (ie not 'suburban' areas), but over here they tend to get used for the school run and going to the shops where the nearest they get to 'off-road' is taking up two spaces to park and maybe, just maybe rolling up a kerb. They weren't nicknamed 'Chelsea Tractors' for nothing. Yeah, yeah, I'm a tree-hugger. ~S~ Jabo Quote

Snacko Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 My favorite is when I see a little tiny lady behind the wheel of a Suburban or Tahoe... All that truck just to go shopping? But I shouldn't talk. Quote
Enforcer57 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Jabo, as long as you're just HUGGING the tree. Don't go drilling any holes........ (Splinters.......ouch). Quote

Klinger Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I would have expected more damage to the interior with live explosive cannon shells. The steering wheel and head restraints look to be intact. Maybe they were solid AP rounds, DU or Tungsten or something. Dont talk to me about tree huggers. I got aggressively jostled by a bunch of new age lesbanians while thinning woodland around Biggin Hill. Quote
