Waldo.Pepper Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Take a look at your running process list. Look for something called. iftpmgr.exe If you find it running let me know please. You may wish to get rid of it. Quote
Arsenal Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Not in evidence on my machine Sir Waldo. (I know you said to tell you if we did find it, but I thought I'd post anyway, so you'd know it wasn't an XP process. Guess you know that though :hal ) Quote

Not running on my laptop at school. Will check at home later. Seems to allow for remote access/control through FTP, doesn't it? Quote

JensenPark Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 nor I... Hey, what's a good web site to check on all the processes running? I looked at a few, but got a lot of "may be dangerous, but probably not" nonsense. Quote

Waldo.Pepper Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 Update! (for any interested - ) I did not install the ftp app, and it was running as a service at startup on a secondary machine in my home. Someone was hammering my connection. also. I had to run Etherreal (a port sniffer) to track down and sort out what was happening. Another happy ending! (although the guilty party escaped unscathed - as they almost always do on the Internet.
