Spit Ia 100oct or Spit II?

I have a question, I usually fly only through the RAF and noticed that spit 1a 100 seems to be lighter and perform better than spit II.  Am I right?  what is the advantage of spit II as it would in principle be a superior model?

Spit 2 has a higher service ceiling,  something which irl was highly desirable, in the game much less so. Unless you plan fighting at 30,000ft, take the mk 1 100 octane.

I felt that the performance of the 1a 100 really looked superior at low medium altitude.  thanks
