  1. I'd heartily recommend reading Robinson's other period aviation novels. Damned Good Show (Bomber Command) and Goshawk Squadron (Great War) are the two others I have which are also fantastic reads. Most of them have some kind of link, with familiar names appearing as they progress through their RAF career. Skull Skelton for example is the main protagonist in Damned Good Show. I really need to pick up 'A Good Clean Fight' which continues the story of Hornet Squadron, set in North Africa in the spring of 1942 flying Tomahawks.
  2. Great little article here chaps: WHEN PIECE OF CAKE CAME TO HEADCORN – 30 YEARS ON https://warbirdtails.net/2018/03/17/when-piece-of-cake-came-to-headcorn-30-years-on/ One of my all time favourite aviation film/series. Been meaning to give it another watch, it's been a while. I used to have it on repeat as a lad, wearing out PapaBear's VHS recording from the original showing on ITV.Also, I've lived down the road from Headcorn most of my life and never realised it was used as a base for filming; you learn something new every day! I urge anyone with a passing interest in the Phoney War, Spitfires (one famously under a bridge piloted by Ray Hanna) and jolly good banter to watch this, also read Derek Robinson's book, it's brilliant. Whilst you're at it, read Paul Richey's Fighter Pilot, which must have heavily influenced Robinson's work.
  3. I think she looks smashing mate, love the new scheme! I believe she test flew from Sywell where she was shipped in, assembled and repainted by Grace's team. Nellie has since taken up residence at Duxford after a flying visit to Lakenheath for a photoshoot with the current serving Squadron of F-15s. 4. Sorry I missed this, hope to make it in two weeks (be sure).
  5. Incredible airmanship. Hope the aircraft has been recovered.
  6. Some of us are still on rusty old 1.5... Soon* to upgrade I fly any of these, in no particular order: Spit 109 Sabre P-51 FC3 (F-15, A-10A, Su-33 etc) Harrier Huey Hawk (almost never cos it's porked) I think that's it... *could be this month, could be next, or the next...
  7. Great news Rog! Get one up
  8. Taken from Key Forums... Here is a further selection of photos taken by Steve Coe (links shared on Facebook). Of course when the forward engine cowlings are on, those too will be covered in the red checkers like the cowl flaps.https://www.flickr.com/photos/131051975@N03/40824473835https://www.flickr.com/photos/131051975@N03/40824470285https://www.flickr.com/photos/131051975@N03/41723448591https://www.flickr.com/photos/131051975@N03/41723446521
  9. Will it be at Legends? No Guts is now Nellie and doesn't she look great!
  10. Great story Arthur! I do love riding my trusty SV650S, but I was definitely born a few decades too late to really get the most out of it on the roads. The congestion down here in the South East in particular is pure hell at times.
  11. To be fair, I'm bored of aeroplanes now, I propose Farming Simulator for Tuesdays instead. Kev (Fruitbat) can be our real life go-to expert in the 'field' and we can perform formation ploughing and tilling competitions. Who else is in? Mine's a John Deere, as my favourite colour is green... All jokes aside, alternating BoX nights works well for me on a Tuesday
  12. Thursday is consistently good for me, Monday and Tuesday are also ok depending on other plans, but could become more regular if BoX is 'promoted' to a fully fledged Dogz night and shift.
  13. Try this one for size ?
  14. Everyone loves a Hunter, and a blue note
  15. Thanks Sidly old bean! That sure could be an option... memories of Normandy and escaping the dutch freight train I think we'd prefer to be closer to Cherry Hinton if possible, so we're all in the same vicinity, so will look at campsites near there. I know I should have just taken your advice Nick ( & FT) and booked at the variable rate from the start, truth is I just clean forgot and it only entered my mind again last weekend when asking Tom about his plans for Legends. It's also the Girlfriend's 40th this year and to be honest, planning for that (also in the summer) has been utilising the few brain cells I allocate to such tasks! Worst case, we'll just kip in the car, Fen and I have done that before haha
  16. Cheers Dave. Hopefully, our favourite Swede will be coming though... Tom and I discussed possible plans to camp last night instead
  17. Hello chaps, it appears Cherry Hinton is now fully booked for the Legends weekend, which is what I thought might happen... Who has booked that has a spare bed?
  18. Found by PapaBear, this guy earns full honours in the Fenrir school of flying. Hold on to your underpants!
  19. I've got some updating to do!
  20. Damn this is a pretty sim isn't it. I need to catch up with all the developments over the last week, I feel out of the loop ...
  21. Bugger! Sorry non-UK Dogz!
