  1. Unfortunately we did not have enough pilots to fly the mission, but I would like to thank those pilots that did show up, CaptJack (Deadmeat Jack as he is known in RoF), BadAim, WH_Sparky, and Gustang. I understand that we are competing with spring weather and that we will lose when it comes to getting outdoors after an awful winter so maybe next week we can run this mission.

We did fly several favorites including Gustang's Eindecker/Neiuport 11 dogfight, Fifi Two Bridges and Metz Bridges with Bombers. Good time to be had by all (except BA when his Albatross DV simulated poor ground crew maintenance and would not start).

    Good luck and happy skies!

  2. Finally! Our forces are counter attacking!

After fighting their way through the Les Esserts forest and retaking the fortress at Domgermain, our infantry is attacking Toul itself. The only way that we could be stopped at this point is if our artillery were to be destroyed. Without artillery support our mobile forces are doomed. Our forces must reach the city of Toul.

Fly cover for our attacking forces and protect our artillery.

Reports of a German DFW flight in the area are a cause of concern, remove that concern at all costs.

    Good luck men!

  3. You are correct about the flight model, it is a joke but is there to support the infantry sim, which is very good (no bunny hoppers, lol). Choppers do a good job to get troops where they need to be.

I used to use the ACE2 mod with the Warhawks when we had a Friday night game going. It gave some really good additions to the game but the constant updates and the intricate nature of some of the additions kind of killed the game for us/them. I do not beleive they play Arma2 anymore as a scheduled game. Like anything else, if it becomes more of a job to play rather than an entertainment, you will lose players. Nice thing about ACE2 is that you can pick and choose what you want to use.

Rog, sorry that I did not get back to you when you asked about the host/game issues in the Normandy Mod. Gustang is really the person to ask about hosting as he usually hosts for us but I have before. It is simply a matter of loading which mission you want to run as per vanilla Arma2. Getting started requires installation of the mod and two hot-fixes for the mod as well as creating a shortcut with the neccasary command line arguments.

So far we have Gustang, Bearforce, and myself with the mod installed. I would love to get more people interested in playing the I44 mod.

  4. A few days late but happy birthday (yes, yes, I know...I am slow). Sorry to hear about your knee/work issue but I am glad that you got the dayshift, perhaps we will see you more often either Wednesday nights when Mayhem hosts IL-2 or Monday/Friday nights when we play RoF.

  5. I should mention that we flew several mission after the one above and more DD pilots joined us (as well as a few WH guests, thanks to WH_WolfP, WH_Joebob, and WH_Sparky). The pilot roster of DD members were Propnut, Gustang, CaptJack, A.P. Hill, MadTrooper, and Squawk.

It was a great turnout overall and hopefully we can entice more pilots to join us on comms to fly. One of these weekends it would be great if we could schedule an afternoon flight so that those in other timezones could also participate.

Thanks again to everyone that joined us.

  6. After Action Report:

Our boys found and smashed that Hun locomotive! The Eindecker is slower in the air than our pilots are used to and so we were late finding the train, it was just pulling into the depot when we tracked it down. Despite murderous Archie fire we were able to destroy the train and all of its cargo! Oh good show!

The Eindeckers, led by Mad Trooper, then proceeded to destroy the trucks that had been waiting to load up the badly needed Hun supplies, poor Wolfie, no supper for you tonight! WolpP (no relation to Wolfie) and Joebob (yes, probably closely related to Wolfie) provided cover to our intrepid ground attack pilots, constantly searching for Hun airplanes. With eagle eyes peels they waited above while the Fokker DVII's attacked our Eindeckers in an attempt to save the few remaining transport vehicles. Propnut, Sparky, CaptJack, Gustang, A.P. Hill and MadTrooper were more than a match for the pesky Bosch! Propnut and A.P. Hill both downed a DVII while two others collided in a clumsy attempt to match the slow turning speed of the Eindeckers! WolfP and Joebob, finally, dove down to dispatch the remaining enemy craft. Unfortunatly Joebob neglected to put on his pop-bottle glasses this morning and rammed into our fearless leader MadTrooper sending both planes to collide with the unforgiving soil, Madtrooper will be missed. Alone WolfP took on the task of escorting the Eindeckers back to base where our heroic pilots landed their aircraft. The only mishap on the return trip was Propnut who flipped his plane over on the landing field after running into Joebob's bicycle, which was thoughtlessly left at the end of the runway. A hazard to all.

Tune in next week when our hero's take on The Moon Men Of Mars!

  7. Warning! This mission is not historically accurate!

    Date: 03.14.1918.

A training flight of Fokker EIIIs got lost and wandered across the lines. Thinking that our aerodrome was one of theirs they landed in thedark hours of this morning with just fumes in their petrol tanks. The German officer in charge of the training flight, Leutnant Blumen Kind...some type of conscientious objector, was so grateful to surrender that he divulged a bit of information to us. It seems that a resupply train is heading to our sector of the front. The fighting has been so fierce that the Hun has decided to dig in and hold the line rather than expand their breakthrough. If we can destroy that resupply train we may be able to counter-attack and retake Toul! Unfortunately the German air patrols are too strong for our lads to get to the target. But, if a flight of German planes were to fly toward the target they might be able to destroy the train and return before the Hun is the wiser!

The Eindeckers are fueled up and ready for takeoff. Lt. Blumen Kind has marked out the location of the train, and the roudevous point with the trucks, on your maps. Get out there and destroy those supplies!

I will send two SE5a's out with you but they are to stay high and out of sight, they will be your air cover after the attack.

  8. Sure! I will David!

Last night we went old school. Flying several mission, including some Dogfights made on the spot by Gustang, using the vernerable Fokker EIII Eindecker and the Airco DH-2! It was a ball (a furball that is)! Great time. Squawk, Sparky, Gustang, A.P. Hill and I flew until the cows came home (well, I think that was what ran across the airfield as I landed). Thanks to everyone that turned up and we will try again on Monday night. See you there!

    David

  9. Hello all, I may not be in attendance tonight. My wife wants a "date" but I will attempt to stear her home by 9PM EST ;)

Anyway, I fixed my Bomb the Gotha mission and will upload it to the RoF TS3 Filer browser today as well as the Bomb the Tank Farm mission. For some silly reason both are appears as "Attack the Gothas V2" in the Co-op settings. Not sure how to fix this as I changed the name in the mission editor and changed the name of the save files.

Anyway, if I do not make it, good luck and have fun. Could someone please post an after-action report on the forum?

    Thanks

    David
