  1. Mayhem, do you think you could post a tutorial on how to edit the skins? I have all the tools, but am not sure how to go about editing it. This way perhaps we could all create our own and you would not need to. To submit custom skins I think we would need to create skins for each aircraft type as well as each pilot. Perhaps we could spread the work out to several of us?

  2. Welcome Navy... I think you're going to fit rrrrrrigght in :D

Naaa, Archddug will not fit in, he drinks way too much, cusses waaay too much, enjoys sheep porn waaaaaay too much and....er...wait a minute.....on second thought...he does fit in after all ;)

  3. I mentioned this to the guys during our game last night and so thought I would post it on the forum as anyone who enjoys RoF would really get a kick out of seeing dozens of full scale World War One planes in flight and hundrends of scale R/C World War One planes in flight as well.

Not only will there be planes of all discriptions, from every beligerent, there will be antique automobile clubs in attendence, vendors with all types of historical items for sale, re-enactors showing what it was like in various situations during the Great War. The last time I was there they had a full front line hospital in operation treating wounded.

The full scale planes had a bombing contest that was excellent and exciting.

Original aircraft as well as reproductions, original engines on reproduction aircraft, some not so well reproduced and some perfectly reproduced to every stitch.

And of course the museum itself is open to the public.

The event is being held Sept 23-25 2011 at the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton Ohio.

edit: A link might help ;)

  4. Jim,

You have created what very few have ever been able to; a home and a family that transcends physical proximity. My wife told me today that a rather rich man donates money to a community nature trails organization with the expectation that his name will be put on large signs with large text everywhere on the trails. Some people try to buy immortality, the best people create it by caring and supporting others, like a family. You are far richer that the man who buys status, you have earned it in all of our eyes. Thank you for giving me a place in your family.

  5. We do have one Norwegian member, Kimosabi, the first DD that I met before joining.

My wife and I spent several days wandering around Oslo a couple of years ago, it is heart rending to think of anyone being hurt or killed by this type of violence (or any type for that matter) in such a beautiful city.

  6. Wanted: Flight yoke and rudder pedals.

A buddy of mine that lives nearby wants to get into flight sims but would rather have a yoke than a joystick. He is a full scale pilot and would feel more comfortable with a controller similar to his experience with flight. Does anyone have a used yoke and or rudder pedals that we can purchase for a resonable price and get him flying with us? I am pretty sure that if he does start flying IL-2 or RoF he will quickly want a flight stick rather than a yoke but I could be wrong. Either way he wants to start first with a yoke. Anything in a closet, attic, basement just laying around?

    Thanks

  7. Jabo, I have never agreed with their business model but I like the game so much that I really cannot cry about it (ok, I do cry about things, lots of things....just ask my wife, but not RoF, lol) I think this is a step in the right direction.

Delta7, Welcome aboard! You will love the graphics in this game, watch for the fabric of your wing snapping in the wind, you can hear the wires singing! Oh boy do I like this game. (can you tell? ;) )

  8. As some of you know, our gallant forces have forced the Bosch out of Toul and across the river.

Reconnaissance flights show that the Germans are preparing an offensive to retake Toul! They are loading troops onto barges and it appears that they may attempt to retake the docks and use it as a staging area in an attempt to retake the entire valley.

Our mission is to bomb the barges and stop the counter offensive cold. General Borris Von Blinky, supreme German commander in this section of the front, is said to be aboard one of the barges. Killing Borris would certainly hurt their war effort so drop those pickles as accurately as possible! There are other targets of opportunity in the area, after destroying the barges feel free to seek them out.

We expect the Hun to put up a strong fighter screen for their attack, elements of the 3rd Buzzin Flyin Gruppen have been see in the area during the last few days. Their aircraft include the Fokker DR1, Albatross DV and the new Fokker DVIII. The feared German Ace Baron Von Braggart and his DR1 have also been seen east of Toul, be careful of that one, he has a tendency to be in the right place at the wrong time.

Our home airfield has been moved to the Western Toul Aerodrome. This gives us a short flight to the target as we expect the barges to attack from the river to the north east. You will have four Sopwith Camels and four RAF SE5a's. Load bombs on all ships and allow the Sopwiths to attack the target first, then send them up to act as top cover for the SE5a's as they continue with their bombs and strafe further targets.

A recent picture of General Borris Von Blinky:

  9. Jedi and I flew a couple of Snacko's MDS missions in UP 3.0 the other day and everything worked out well. We did Korea and Midway, which ones did you try?

Friar, good idea although I have no experience building missions for IL-2 I have been learning the RoF mission builder, perhaps I can find similarities with the two and learn IL-2 mission building.

  10. (well...maybe not Prop; he kinda falls into the mediocre column) ....and if my association with Prop has any impact, I really hardly know him at all. Cheers!
