  1. Well perhaps not the North American type deluge but just a bit would be nice.
  2. Finally managed to boot the lazy gits out of the house for a couple of hours. Went for a walk on windy, overcaste but warm(ish) Branscombe beach; My youngest standing by the anchor of the Napoli. A lasting memorial to the greed and stupidity of a French salvage company and an English civil servant. Looking eastwards towards Portland Bill. Halfway up but as far as I could persuade the kids to go "I'm cold, Dad!" Old WWII pillbox overlooking beach. Cherbourg is about 150 miles due south so the only action this thing has seen is of the "Come and get 'yer knickers orf in 'ere darlin" type. It's got a commanding view of the beach westwards too. Anyone invading the Sea Shanty tearooms would be in big trouble. Still hoping for some snow though. Perhaps Wednesday?
  3. I've been using gamebooster tonight and I thinks it does make a difference. Me like
  4. WOW, I mean, just WOW.
  5. Mmmmmmm.........nice screenies. I'll give those settings a whirl and report back. Thanks Sid.
  6. At the moment Sid, in the config file its running Hardware shaders=1 sky=2 forest=2 water=1 effects=1 forceshaders=0 In the game video set up texture mipmap is trilinear, texture compression is none and all the other boxes are ticked except clip hint and use pallet. The Nvidia control panel is still set to application controlled as in my experience thats the one where I usually manage to ruin my frame rates!!
  7. Got UP2.0 up and running last night on a fresh install. I think I should go to town on the graphics settings as this will probably be our standard install for the immediate future. My system; Core2duo E6600 2.4ghz., Nvidia 9800gt card and 2gigs fast memory on Windows XP. Any recommendations on settings in the game's video options and in the config. file? I also have Nvidia control panel to really bu**er things up if required! I haven't altered anything yet. Just running perfect mode in 1280 * 1024 at my screens refresh rate at a nice smooth, solid 60fps. Any advice? I'm willing to trade 20fps as long as it keeps the smoothness for a little more graphical 'sparkle'.
  8. Brilliantly clear, bright, crisp and sunny here in Devon. I want to go walking on Dartmoor but have been outvoted by my lazy kids Now the question is, do I watch 633 Squadron or Aces High on christmas telly this afternoon?
  9. I got lovely, lovely book tokens, Haynes manuals for Spitfire and Lancaster which at first glance seem rather good, a v-neck sweater!!!!! and a hangover. Nice one Crash and Swep, mmmmm indeed.

  11. Whilst the rest of the UK has snow, here in the south-west its raining (yawn) but as an added bonus the rain washes away all the salt and grit they lay on the roads and then freezes over night and hey presto! Bowling with automobiles the next morning.
  12. "Let the bombing commence!"
  13. -41 and a blizzard sounds wildly exciting if you live in a place where for 360 days of the year this is what you see when you look out of the window Got any pics of the snow?
  14. Do you still have a seperate, clean install of 4.09 unmodded so you can fly Ubizoo coops on Saturday, Largie?
  15. Thanks BG, I get it. Have read before that flashing can be risky!!
  16. I expect there are newer chipset and bios drivers around for my board but is it worth updating them? I understood there was some risk involved in updating the bios?
  17. This looks exactly what Sweper did to me tonight in my beloved Dora (sob)
  18. Thankyou for this Tribunus. I found the pictures of the cemeteries very moving. Good to see the Commonwealth wargraves commission is still keeping up the good work. My late fathers elder brother John, who is still very much alive and kicking and lives in Perth, in Western Australia was in the 2nd. Battalion, The Hampshire regiment and landed at Algiers as part of operation Torch in November 1942. I think that sixty-seven years ago today, or perhaps tomorrow, he was seriously wounded at a village called Tebourba in an action that earned the battalion the name "the Tebourba Tigers." His company commander was awarded the VC for his part in this action. They say that the desert war was a 'war without hatred.' Sounds rather trite, I know. But my uncles life was saved by a sgt. of Panzer Grenadiers who found
